Hey guys, I am looking to loose some weight so I can feel better about myself and so on. Does anyone have any suggestions/help on what I could do ? Currently I am 6ft 3in and I weight about 19st. I have been slim most of my life but ever since my accident 6 years ago I couldnt do anything for a few months I have been on the larger side. Does anyone have any diet's that have worked for them ?

Thanks, Dario.

Depends what your diet is like just now. Honestly though, exercise would do more for you than many a diet would, the more muscle you have, the more energy you use day by day to keep they muscles moving.

Dietary advice- find what you like. Drink lots of fizzy juice? Switch it for fruit juice or water. Switch what you snack on, instead of biscuits, go for fruit that you like. Small steps at a time is the name of the game, less of a shock to the system and easier to manage the small steps than a sudden but massive change.

Above all else don't get into the idea of "I want to lose weight so I am not allowed X,Y,Z...." you can always eat what you want, just be smart about it.

whats your current diet?

do you exercise at all? anything? cycling, running, weight lifting, treadmill?

stop by the walmart or whatever store you have and pick up a weight lifting bar with some weights, and some dumbells, they arent very expensive. Arm curls squats and lifting over ur head are real good, it does work for me do 50 reps each a day, pushups are excellent too they help ur core and shoulders after about a week you realize u can eat whatever without getting chubby it just seems to make u healthy overall and boost your metabolism

Thanks, I don't exercise at all, I am thinking of starting to go runs at least 3 times a week and then do what you said like slowly change my diet.

i myself have the luck that i can eat what i want, don't have to exercise at all and still be slim or even slightly underweight. i fear the day that won't work out for me anymore, but i guess i just won't care. i'm lazy.
the best way to loose weight is still the good old "eat healthy food and exercise" diet. there isn't a whole lot of magic to it.

My current diet consists of eating at weird time, drinking fizzy juice and i dont exercise at all atm :/ kind of need to start to exercise way more

I've recently lost a bit of weight without any effort really. Simply eat less than you burn off to lose weight.

I find at work im occupied and don't snack at all. I've also started doing pushups - you can see the benefit in no time!

I do stuff like brush my teeth earlier at night so all I feel I can have is water and also usually avoid puddings after meals as they usually make me bloated. Learn to say no and have a glass of water in substitute. Find exercise which isn't boring and appreciate the differences

My advise would be get some professional help if you can. People to help with your diet and exercise routine as you said you had an accident and then you started putting on weight. I do not want to pry but it sounds like you had something that stops you for example working or doing your normal life up till that point. The last thing you want to do is hurt or aggravate that again as that will quickly kill any motivation you have. Pain is one of the things that can quickly kill your motivation.

General tips I would advise is little things like changing how and what you eat. For example less fatty or processed foods. Things like fast food or ready meals are full of processed fats and other stuff. Home cooked meals with fresh ingredients are much better. Get your meat from a butcher rather than a supermarket. Eat more veg and fruit. Drink less sweet drinks, ie fizzy drinks as they are full of sugar. As said before you do not have to completely cut off things like fast food but rather limit the amount you intake. For example you can have take out maybe once a week and if you are stuck for time eating a pre prepared meal is better than starving.

Eat regularly and often, smaller meals are better than larger meals. This means your body can process the food faster and easier and thus you wont be absorbing the fat and sugars in the food.

As for exercise you need to get your hearth rate into the fat burning zone so if you plan on going for runs down the road or park etc you may want to invest in a hearth rate monitor. Do not go mad early you will need to build up to it. So walking to begin with and then jogging and then running. Try for 2 days a week at first to help your body and muscles recover easier. Then you can increase it when you feel more comfortable.

Weights are ok once you loose weight but for loosing weight cardio exercises are better than weights as you need to get your hearth working.

If i am honest i dont mind exercising i just have ZERO motivation what so ever

Well you sir are in luck!! :D. I have been on The Dukan diet since august last year and I have lost 20Kgs in 2 months and now I have evened out to a nice 76kilos. What the diet focuses on is 3-4 stages. The attack phase which is 7 days of just protein ( so basically Bacon for a week with lots of water) then its the cruise phase which is protein with vegetables until you reach your target weight. I suggest you search up the book. Exercise isn't a must with this diet but I would say 30mins of walking with this diet would help a lot.

The diet breaks down fat and speeds up your metabolism

Im only 16 and I used to weigh 92 kilos which is 14 stone im now 11 st. 6 pounds which is around 65-75 kilos so its safe to say that I have had experience with it :)

Now im in tafe which is basically computer 8 hours a day every Thursday and Friday so it takes its toll on me but I still stick to my diet.

Know something, i did actually try that a while back (around a year ago) but i couldnt stick to it, i found it very boring to begin with and then i just slowly eased off it

yeah when I was doing it at the start I felt like calling it quits and converting my eating habits to a vegetarian diet it was way too much bacon for me haha

I have little motivation too. Since doing pressups for like 2 weeks my biceps have doubled in size (i like to think) and my fairly sensible eating regime has dropped my weight from nearly 13st to 11.5 to 12. Also I dont take sugar in coffee (you get used to it) or well sugary drinks in general. Those energy drinks are full of it, and basically gets stored as fat.

Plus I'm newly single so I guess I have to shape up or be left behind! :/

Yeah told you i have zero motivation, it also sucks because i am the only one eating healthy in my house cos everyone is slim so its hard to stick to it when you open the fridge and there is sugary things staring at you  alot easier to just grab something from the fridge than to make a bacon or eggs or something :(

I love coffee and i have not tried it without sugar (dont think it would be the same) also I have been to the shops just there to get some diluting juice and bought some 1L bottles or water to take out with me for when i start running

You get used to it. Now whenever i even have half a sugar in coffee its mega sweet.

Tea even tastes better without! If you have to snack get some whole foods, not processed stuff - like nuts, seeds and dried fruit? Its probably all about mentality and discipline - ive got to the point where I feel bad if I eat crap repeatedly such as after a LAN (crisps, coke, alcohol). Just replace the really bad crap you eat now with less crap stuff and see how you get on.

Remember sugar is just as bad as saturated fat. We all need some in our diet but chances are what you eat as "good" food probably has more than enough in it

well come Monday I am going to try and cut out salt and sugar and change my eating habbits. Going to go running down a the park that is not that far away from me (10mins walk)

dont go in too hard/cold turkey else you will end up hating it and not doing it lol

mind you, i find pressups so easy now compared to a month ago - that alone is enough reason for me to keep it up

My only advise would be avoid fad diets like the plague i.e. Atkins, juice diets and so on..

Whilst these diets give you rapid weight loss, it will nearly always be put on again once you switch back to a normal diet. Instead do the simplest thing which is eat less calories and avoid "bad" foods.

Yeah i wasnt planning on going to do diets like that anyway, my mum does the weight watchers now and again to keep her weight down. I tried that and it wasnt that bad tbh, wasnt that much of a shock but i eased off it after stayiogn on it for about 2 months and loosing about 1-2stone. I NEED MORE MOTIVATION :P
