Prime Minister John Howard - Australia

Muslims who want to live under Islamic Sharia law were told on Wednesday to get out of Australia , as the government targeted radicals in a bid to head off potential terror attacks.

Separately, Howard angered some Australian Muslims on Wednesday by saying he supported spy agencies monitoring the nation's mosques. Quote: 'IMMIGRANTS, NOT AUSTRALIANS, MUST ADAPT. Take It Or Leave It.

I am tired of this nation worrying about whether we are offending some individual or their culture. Since the terrorist attacks on Bali , we have experienced a surge in patriotism by the majority of Australians.'

'This culture has been developed over two centuries of struggles, trials and victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom'

'We speak mainly ENGLISH, not Spanish, Lebanese, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society . Learn the language!'

'Most Australians believe in God. This is not some Christian, right wing, political push, but a fact, because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, and this is clearly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.'

'We will accept your beliefs, and will not question why. All we ask is that you accept ours, and live in harmony and peaceful enjoyment with us.'

'This is OUR COUNTRY, OUR LAND, and OUR LIFESTYLE, and we will allow you every opportunity to enjoy all this. But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about Our Flag, Our Pledge, Our Christian beliefs, or Our Way of Life, I highly encourage you take advantage of one other great Australian freedom,

'THE RIGHT TO LEAVE'.'

'If you aren't happy here then LEAVE. We didn't force you to come here. You asked to be here. So accept the country YOU accepted.'

Maybe if we circulate this amongst ourselves, American/English citizens will find the backbone to start speaking and voicing the same truths.

Although this is specifically aimed at Muslims in Australia I think this contains a lot of sense and should apply to all imigrants joining our communities in the UK. It seems as if Britian is losing its identity... If you move to another country you adopt to their way of life so why doesn't that happen here?

What do you think? (Other than 'is Mr. Smith a right wing fascist?' - I can assure you I'm not :p)

This is why I'd love to move to somewhere like Australia. I'm fed up of the UK and how we let in anybody and give them seemingly more rights than UK born citizens.

I totally agree with everything he says,Ijust wish someone in this country would stand up and say the same thing

Totally agree, the way we treat race issues are ridiculous. I'm not against people coming here, just against them moaning about the Country and enforcing their beliefs on us.

Everyone that I have shown that to agrees. Perhaps because they are all white middle class and share similar values to me... I have yet to show my Muslim friends as I do not wish to offend them, but I'd be interested to see what their reaction would be...

Why should it offend them? It is simple common sense and agreeable to every person with some degree of logic and the belief in the right to choose.

I don't know mate. Generally speaking Muslims have had a hard time of late after 9/11, a lot undeserved. I guess in an attempt to protect their rights society changed. Now the line between prejudice and just having an opinion is so blurred no one says anything for fear of retribution/being labelled as racist.

What he says does make sense, but i'm finding a few of the points quite funny. I've only read a few books on the history of Aus, so i'm no way saying that i know the whole and irrefutable truth. As far as i know they tried to completely change the aborigines, going so far as taking their children away in order to "civilise" them.

Balancing that though is that they also have a massive diversity of ethnicities steaming from the time they opened their borders.

His words just seemed a little hypocritical to me.

i couldn't have said it better. we need someone to stand up and say something along them lines here in england. good on him :worship:

there was a formal pulic apolegy on this a couple weeks back.

British politics these days are a bunch of pansies. There is pretty much no difference between the opposition parties these days, they're all just playing up to society rather than leading it.

Interesting point, if true then yes it is hypocritical...
