Vista usbport.sys 500hz mouse polling rate.

Thanks Jim it worked like a charm!

Running Vista Ultimate x86 with SP1 and all the latest updates.

My mouse is an old Logitech Optical Pilot and i set it to 500hz (mouserate says that is indeed running at 500hz), didn't try 1000hz because i am extremely happy with that setting, much more smoother:)

I also have a Logitech G5 Laser 2007 which works in XP & Vista by default at 500 hz without the Logitech drivers but honestly i can't really get used to it... Oh well:rolleyes:

Just one question though. By doing these steps in command does this mean that the integrity checks are permanently disabled or temporarily and are in effect again after a reboot?

From what I recall (sorry this is a bit of an old thread), they are permanently disabled. I have a feeling that if it was only temporary, Windows would replace the files with originals again at next reboot.

Thanks for the reply, does anyone know a way to re-enable the integrity checks for Vista Ultimate x86 so i can make a note for future reference just in case.

I searched google but unfortunately i found ways to do only the opposite.

* Update for Windows Vista (KB938979)

* Update for Windows Vista (KB932596)

Uninstall those two updates and the mouse fix will work.

Thats the only work around I can find so far. The usbport.sys files are the same apparantly before and after the updates so its not the fix that needs fixing.

How can i do this if the usbports are dead?

I download this file i have v64 and i try do what here write and i do it than whan i turn pc my usb dont work!!!

hey man plz help...

i had done everything and at last it says i am not authorize to replace sm file in my own notebook.

I tried disabling UAC and then again it says "you need permission"

how to get this permission???

plz im dying to get 1000 hz

my mouse logitech mx-518

im also trying to do this but it says i need permission like Freakyy,i have disabled UAC and i have also did some other stuff like give myself ownership of the windows folder but it still says you need permission to do this.

Any help with this would be great

Yeah i sorted my polling rate now but do you have to come it in test mode to come the mouse working,i have disabled test mode and the mouse stops working, can you not take the overlay off the deaktop

you need to use test mode because the driver file is now signed with a test certificate made by users, and not an official release

if it's just the cosmetic watermark on the desktop you are worried about...

instead of using test mode, you could use the F8 menu each boot to disable the signed driver requirement or to use ready driver plus which does the same thing, but automatically so you don't have to remember

or you could hack the user32.dll.mui and remove the strings corresponding to the watermarks

think it's prolly easier if i just point you to a user32.dll.mui patcher

I have vista64 ultimate sp1(i think). I want set my mouse mx518 to 500hz. Is this posible on vista64, or ... ? Do i need upload or someting ....

I've just done this via those tool Pyr0 and I set it to 500. Is it right that when I use that tester, my peak is 1047Hz??

What does the deathadder offer?

Edit: Just realised I think my G5 drivers will have it set to 1000. Think I'll turn these lil hacky things off for now then and keep the folder for future.

razer mice have an option to change the polling rate as well as the dpi

Ha trying to revert it made it so my system wouldn't recognise my G5 at all. Couldn't get it back. Still recognised my Dinovo Mini though. Anyway rather than **** about all night I just did a system restore to about 4 hours ago which sorted it. All back to normal apart from it's still in test mode. Just gonna take it out of that now.

I'm on Vista 32bit and followed the instructions and all the that to a T.However, when I use mouserate I only get about 120-140 MHZ and I've installed the 1000MHZ file :(

Any idea why it's only still only 120?

Just another question would this 'patch' work for joysticks that are connected to the USB as well instead of only mouses? Because if inputs from joysticks are read quicker by this patch that would be awesome.
