Well we're all expecting the launch of Vista to be another money making scheme for the big blue: but according to Vista Knowledge: its not going to cost the earth.
With copy's rumoured to be at $99 retail and even less for OEM: maybe MS have seen the light.
Which all makes sense really - mind you - MS will claim this to be their own idea and an amazing marketing coup!
I may even pick up a copy if this is right - Would be worth sticking it on a SATA drive and seeing just how buggy the fecker is

Microsoft expect that by reducing the price, piracy will become less attractive (and the sale of more legitimate copies should cover the lost revenue). Additionally, Vista is likely to force alot of people to upgrade their computers, faced with having to pay a sigificant sum for the OS aswell as the hardware upgrades, Microsoft is worried the majority will simply wait until their exisiting system is beyond use.
