No mostly it isn't.
Every woman I have lived with (three, two I married) always had to have the final say and you need to be good at shutting up.
Small things I did not agree with? fine. But, both of my wives were insistent on doing stupid things and expecting me to still be there like they were doing right. There comes a point where I just couldn't put up with it any more.
My second wife became abusive to my mother and that was her biggest mistake. If she didn't think I was going to get involved she was stupid.
It landed her on the pavement outside. I literally put her out and had the police come and take her away before I did something very serious.
My brother's wife is even worse. TBH? every time I see her I want to spit in her eye and tell her what I really think of her. She's really nasty and spiteful inside, and twists my brother around her finger. I am also sick of being the one here supporting my mother because she is so needy.
Maybe in Norway things are different. I know you guys are far more liberal. But here? it's a life long sentence of putting up with crap. Drama mainly, stuff that could easily just be avoided. They are like flies around s**t for that.
Whenever things were fine with both of my wives they got involved in something just to get it going again.

While I have met nice women they all have this in common hence why I'm more than happy remaining single for the rest of my life ^_^
On topic, I'm looking at the Silverstone ARM12B, Seems to meet my requirements, Takes up to 12KG so it should take the XG35VQ without the stand at 8.7KG, According to Asus' spec page, No problem -

Doesnt that one require you to drill a hole in the desk?
Also it looks like if you want it perfectly centred you either have the monitor quite far forward, or have the desk away from the arm to compensate for the arm extending out.
Maybe im wrong.

Kind of cool. I looked at the manual and you can do it two ways. Standard clamp, or drill a hole the size of the thread. I like that option better. Might be interested in this one myself
Also it looks like if you want it perfectly centred you either have the monitor quite far forward, or have the desk away from the arm to compensate for the arm extending out.

Was just about to say this ^_^ It's why I'm getting it, If I can borrow a drill from a friend I'll use the hole option and use a wider piece of wood underneath to spread the weight and clamping pressure as my table, While very sturdy and solid wood, Is only 1" thick.
For the time being I'll use the simple clamping method
