Hey guys, time for another update.

First off, I managed to find another vinyl sticker I got made up and never found a use for...

Next up I manged to get another toggle fighter pilot style switch in. This one will just be for decoration

Soldered the wires up, so the LED can be wired up to a 9v battery.

Next up, time for cables! :D

Double wires and jumpers on the cables will be done with clear shrink and ink for weathering

All working first time with everything but the -5v lit (20th pin, not used on any PSUs anymore), so all good here :)

Now.... bare with me, I went a little overboard with the weathering on the cables .....

I used some electrical tape on the 2nd wire that took more weathering than the other wires, to make it look like someone has tried to repair the loom.

If its too OTT, I can easily change it... some feedback would be great!

As always, thanks for stopping by!

James

Yeah like Rick said the tearing looks spot on, the tape looks a bit meh.....but all in all its coming along fantastically mate

I dunno, I like the tape, it gives it that authentic maintained feel.. you should add some grubby dirty finger prints to it, weather it some more. All in all kudos on the details.

cheers guys. I do think it needs more weathering, thats for certain. I finished up in the workshop at 10 last night, so I ran out of time. I was in there for 15 hours so it was enough :P

Yikes 15 hours that's a long slog that, yeah it might be because of the weathering an more my tie it in better. Looking forward to more updates anyway fella

Yea dude, I do pretty long stints in my workshop. Normally do 10-12 hours work and then a bit of work on this after some food.

Deffo needs more weathering. Will have a go at the weekend and report back :)

Loving this build, didn't you ever do that thing in school with paper and cold tea tto give an aged effect? Could be worth exploring a similar option, I think the clean wires, as in new looking are holding it back.

Yea man, that was the ideas behind staining the case. The tea solution just wasn't quite strong enough and didn't have much staying power, so I used a super strong coffee solution instead.

As before, will be doing more weathering soon, just ran out of time last night

apologies, skimmed thread! Can't wait for the next update

Time for another small update, nothing massive as I've had a very busy weekend!

I done some carnage to the PSU!

I need to get another set of hex keys to take off the PSU cover, I lost all my dinky ones. I don't want to go too ham on the weathering and get any metallic dust or any of the powder coat inside the PSU and cause issues.

I also manged to distress the clear connectors, simply sanded random patches and used some ink to make some runs, to ensure it fits in with the theme. Its reallly hard to get some pics of the connectors when its late night in the workshop

Again, sorry for the small update, I just want to keep the thread up to date!

Thanks for looking.

I know :( I'm leaving the logo on show though :) Going to order some more hex keys tomorrow and see if I can get some nice weathering done on the cover.

Thanks for the kind words too :D

I don't know if I've seen a cooler build. Everything about it is just... fun. Like, this build has a personality. You have personified metal and silicon. Well done, James!
