Using Hydro Series on GPU

Hello, I may be the millionth person to ask about this topic, but I am very interested in using a Hydro Series on my GPU. I use an EVGA 550 Ti, and I know I could upgrade but I don't see the reason to, I run a 1900x1200 24" monitor with no gameplay lag. I understand that I would need to keep my VRMs and RAM chips cool as well, and I will probably go with thermal interface pads for them. My main question is if there is any problem with the pump not having access to the water in the way I want it set up. For example, the pump shouldn't be above the reservoir in a custom liquid loop in a case because it won't be able to pull the water up. I have an 800D from Corsair, and want to put the radiator below the pump and it mounted on the zone's bottom mount. The radiator will be below the pump and block, and the tubes pointing down. Is that still okay for it to work properly? Thanks!

welcome to the OC3D forums,

spending the $150-$200 to buy all the pieces, assemble it and wonder why there
is not a marked improvement on testing or gaming is not going to help you in either.

if you want to for looks, get a 660ti or 7850, block it and now you have an easier
loop configuration. one with purpose and looks. the uni-blocks are just not a great
idea for serious consideration.

not ripping the 550ti (got two not in SLI) its just not worth the time and money.
sell the card add the $200 in water-cooling for the later generation GPU card.

Dwood on OCN makes custom brackets for fitting H series coolers on to GPU's,look him up.

Uni blocks actually cool the GPU far better than a full cover blocks and the heatsinking the VRMs/Ram will go far in mitigating the downside of uniblocks inability of cooling these items.
Also Uniblocks are transferable between cards thus saving a fortune on upgrade day.

However, waterblocking that card will just be a epeen thing, you would be better served by saving the money and getting a GPU upgrade. The performance jump from the 500 to the 600 series cards is worth it.
