Using Home Theatre System with PC

Hi, looking for some advice/information.
I have a 5.1 surround sound system and wondered if there is a way to hook it up to my pc. I have used a splitter and have the two front speakers and sub working.
Looking to get all of the speakers working though for when i have house parties.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

p.s i am not interested in buying a 5.1 set up.

Perhaps I'm missing something but can't you plug your 5.1 home theatre straight in to your PC? Does the home theatre use 3.5mm plugs as an input?

I wish it was that simple, the cables are colour coded blocks which plug into my dvd centre. I cureently have speaker > red + white splitter plugged into the audio section of my dvd player. Model is Philips hts3500s

OK I've just had a quick look at the instruction manual, I'm guessing you're using AUX IN. If that's not giving you full surround I'm not sure how to get full surround using what you've got. You could use the digital input but that would require buying a sound card that has digital coaxial out, or has digital TOSLINK out and then buying a digital TOSLINK to digital coaxial converter to use with it.
