hey guys

heres what i need.

i need a usb flash pen (1gb) that will automatically install drivers ON WINDOWS 98.

is there such a thing?

Yea win98 was about as plug-and-play as a dead animal from what i remember but then again i wasnt exactly into PCs when running win98 so there may be a workaround, i just used it for normal 9yr old stuff (pr0n and C+C lol )

I remember 98SE having slightly better usb support than the original 98, but I've seen many usb devices (including mem sticks) that state they do not work on win98 :(

yup. im looking for purely win98se.

surely u can get something that makes a virtual cd drive/floppy drive then loads up the drivers from that?

what about if your BIOS supports usb legacy?

my BIOS seems to setup usb disks using legacy and even works on win98se bootdisk (in DOS) as I have USB Legacy enabled for GRUB + Mac Keyb

Shot in the dark but would using a different file system on the drive make any difference?

unlikely, i think most are pretty much always reconigsed as "mass storage device" these days, and i know that win98 doesnt have a MSD driver built in

My SanDisk Cruzer Mini is automatically installed in W2k and XP but for W98se I needed to manually install the driver, which you can download here. I'm suprised they still have such good support for W98se.

what about batching the specific drivers / universal MSD drivers in with your windows installation files? then just use that disk for all your installations. pretty sure it's legal as long as you use a paid for keycode
