my current pc is so old i need to upgrade. im not sure what to use though. looking at the ASUS Maximus IV Extreme-Z LGA 1155 Intel Z68 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard or the ASUS MAXIMUS IV EXTREME (REV 3.0) LGA 1155 Intel P67 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX Intel Motherboard with ether a 2600k or 2500k & corsair vengeance 2x4gb kit. my goal is a gaming and media encoding machine on a full disability budget.

i need advice on a good air cooled case. i like the case labs t10 best because i can add a raid card and have lot of storage space.

my current pc is:

evga p55 ftw 200

i7 860

8gb various un-matched ram

silverstone st1500

dual sli gtx 280 reference cards

I5 2500k cpu, check out this reveiw of the 2500k.

Z68 mobo gen3, gen 3 gives you the option to up upgrade later to pcie-3 gpu's and Ivry bridge cpu's in the future.

Noctua d14 cooler, best of the best atm.

A 2500k is better for gaming than the 2600, as hyper threading is not so good for gaming.

Your psu is good.

would the ASRock Z68 PROFESSIONAL GEN3 LGA 1155 Intel Z68 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX Intel Motherboard be a good choice for mobo??? aso any good case suggestions??

I would highly recomend the ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3, Im using that mobo for my i5 2500 gaming rig, and boy is it a sexy board with its gold caps and black psb.

Just be sure to download the latest bios update to get the best out of the 2500k.

For a case i would recomend a coolermaster HAF case for the best air flow.

Everything in your updated list works very well together.

You will have an amazing computer.

The noctuau d14 fits the HAF X with loads of room to spare.
