Hi. (sorry if im posting on the wrong section)
Im currently looking to upgrade my Rig or buy a gaming laptop, im more about buying a laptop because my old HP Pavillion 7337ez is dying and i cant stand it anymore.

My Rig is:
Intel i7 870 @ 3.5ghz
Gskill ripjawz 16gb pc 1333mhz
Nvidia GTX480
Motherboard Asus P7P55D-E
i seriously think my rig can still live a few more months before i do anything.

And the situation is that im moving to a bigger city and i got my Rig at Home about 2300kilometers from here, im from portugal but i live in switzerland.
And i'd like to buy the laptop ASAP here in Switzerland because its cheaper here than in Portugal.

I was thinking about a Alienware MX14 or Maybe going to MX17...or getting an Asus laptop.

What do you think sell me your ideas ;)

Thank you guys ;)

Alienware? oh boy.
for the love of god don't get a gaming laptop, get something like a lenovo g510 and a new GPU for your rig, you will pay less money, you will have a far more pleasant gaming experience and a laptop which doesn't cause back pain and still works like a charm for anything you might need a laptop for.

Agreed on the Alienware. However gaming laptops do serve their purpose.

I've got my main rig and an MSI Gaming Series laptop. The laptop isn't that high a spec as far as gaming laptops go, but it still does perfectly fine in games if I do decide to play something.

It depends on budget really, and how much you use a laptop, or would game on a laptop if you were on the move.

Your PC is obviously a few generations old now, and although it won't necessarily start to show its age, there are much better alternatives.

If you've got the budget to be talking about brand new MX17s, personally, I'd probably be thinking of getting something portable for a laptop, and using the rest of the money to build a whole new PC. MX17s start in the UK at £1300 - so take of £400 for a standard laptop, and that still leaves you with £900 to put towards a new main PC, which is more than enough to get a decent system out of.

It depends entirely on what you want from the laptop however.

the g510 is 550 euros and it does pretty well in gaming, the main downside with gaming laptops i see is that the performance is still not very good but the weight and the size is pretty unpractical.
but MSi have announced their new gaming laptops which are supposed to be very light, even with a proper steelseries keyboard, so my opinion might change again.

Well, my MSI gaming laptop is 17inch and has a Steelseries keyboard. Although it's perhaps not light for laptops in general, for a 17inch laptop I think it's incredibly light - significantly lighter than my mum's 17'' Vaio anyway.

The G510 may be a decent option - I'm not sure how enjoyable gaming would be on it however? This the right thing?http://shop.lenovo.com/gb/en/laptops/essential/g-series/g510/

Still probably a decent option if it's just used as a laptop, but having said that there's countless options for budget laptops these days, and it's really impossible to pick just one out for people living in different countries where other alternatives may be available.

that is the right series but the model seems to be slightly different.
mine has a 4700mq like the second model, but only 4GB of RAM. therefor it has an hd8750m which is good enough to run games like csgo at ~90fps.

Ah good to see someone beat me to the lenovo recommendation ^_^.
I think they're actually making their own gaming sub brand from what I've seen. Their current gaming laptop is quite impressive but not amaaazing. Whats interesting is you can choose a laptop with a 755m or sli 755m for the same price. good job lenovo.

FYI alienware laptops are not as bad as the desktops. They're really chunky though. The lenovo and the MSI ones are lighter although they won't run as cool.

thats pretty cool about the sli option, but they do drop the ram and lose an optical bay, but if you steam game who cares and 8gb is enough anyway :)

Yes i just found out about that Lenovo Ideapad Y510p (saw it on newegg) it sounds pretty good for its price, yes normally ill be only playing games that dont require much like CS, CSS, CS:GO League of Legends, DOTA2, BF3 maybe BF4 if it can run it good, but lately i play more LOL, Pro Evolution Soccer and Football Manager. Because ill be playing games that require more on my Rig, this ill be just a laptop to use dailly and on trips, because im ashamed of showing my old laptop to anybody :(
I really dont have a budget, its like i want to buy something good for the less amount possible, so i can save some money to spend on my rig later.

can you guys help looking for the best web place to buy an Lenovo Ideapad Y510p? that would've be great

thank you all for you fast and very good replies :)

I'd go to their website first (shop.lenovo.com )and it'll take you to the localised version. from there it should be available to buy from them :).
That or Amazon

-edit- gah I've started looking at laptops from them again. I've got two from them currently, an ancient core 2 Duo ultrabook from a time before ultrabooks and a Yogapad pro, which is a touch screen/tablet i5 beast that I use for work. I really want a Thinkpad x1 Carbon. shame the spec I want is nearly £2k...
