Oldish news but nobody posted it.

Take the tour

For those of you who have not ventured into open source/linux/ubuntu - Ubuntu is a free OS which basically comes with everything an everday user will need preinstalled. There are thousands of free applications (most of which actually better than Windows pay for apps - such as dvd burning, takes longer but produces better quality than Nero.

Get it

I recommend x64 if you have a x64 system. I also recommend .torrent as the fastest method of downloading.

It can be a bit strange to setup at first, but I always ask in http://www.ubuntuforums.org if I have any issues

Downloaded ok quick to set up,only problem so far is setting up the wireless (still wont work).

its great for those apps you need but cba to buy.

also saves the temptation to pirate as there are pretty much free alternatives for anything

I use devede to make dvd films, dvd::rip to rip dvds, k3b as a replacement for nero - you get the idea

only bummer is no bluray support due to hdcp crap
