I've had Crossfire 6850 for a while now and they are the oldest thing in my rig.
Its time for a Graphical Re haul

Im going to sell the cards for £70 each and im also going to be selling a HTC One x 32Gb for around £200-220

Almost Everyone can add those two numbers up and the means i will have around £340-360 to spend on a new card

I've been looking into the 680's and the 7970. I Currently Game on a Samsung Monitor with a 2ms response time thats running on 1680*1050 and i have a 1920*1080 Slave Monitor next to it. When i play i only use the one screen.

A Friend is also trying to talk me into getting SLI 660Ti but i'd prefer to avoid that due to that costing me £400 and in the future i'd like to water cool my whole system and getting two waterblocks will set me back around £180--

I have a Intel I5 2500k so i will be able to get decent performance out of what ever card i choose,

With crossfire 6850's still giving good performance i would like the card chosen to outperform my old setup

I'm going to be finishing high school soon and will be moving on to games development in college and from what i got from the meeting is that they are advising me to get a good spec computer as i will be doing lots of 3D Modeling

Do any of you Computer Enthusiasts have any suggestions on which card i should get

edit: the 7970 im considering is this http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=GX-097-GI&groupid=701&catid=56&subcat=938 it comes with around £50 worth of games which i'd sell...

Peace

Both the 7970 and GTX680 would be way more than you need for 1680x1050 but I'm all for overkill. :D

I'd say that since they're both super cards and the fastest single cards you can get, I'd opt for whichever one you could get for the best price cause they're both about the same with one being faster in one game then slowly in another so you can't go wrong with either.

I'd also say go single card instead as there are less potential headaches with drivers and compatibility and all that.

overkill is what im aiming for, the monitor is only temporary until i get another 1920*1080
