Good day im Dante and im look at building a gaming/video editing rig.
For the pass few years i been buying pre build PC for dell and other places, They have done the job for what i need from then atm.
But now its time to me build my own, has been a few year last one a build my self was one i did really for school work and a bit of gaming.
Im looking at spending about 1500 to 1650.

The build plan

CPU - I7 3770k
Motherboard - Asus P8Z77-V PRO or a Asus Maximus V Formula (I do have a thing for red and black)
Ram - Corsair 16GB Vengeance
GPU - Gtx 670 or 680
Sound Card - Asus Xonar
PSU - Corair AX not sure what watt to go for yet
Case - have not pick but i really like the look of the Storm Trooper
Cooler - H100i
SSD - got a M4 256gb and a 3tb WD

Any recommendations would be helpful :)

- Imo, you should also consider the Z77 MPower

- An overclocked 670 like the EVGA FTW and Asus DCU II Top are just as fast as a 680, but a lot cheaper.

- An AX750 will give you enough headroom to go SLI in the future :)

The rest seems like a solid set-up. Good choice on the drives!

Not so sure about the DCII top? They've been discontinued because the cooler only cools the core and not the VRMs - so the card overheats. I'd also only say go for the EVGA if you're watercooling.
Look at the DCII non-top, KFA2/Galaxy, and Gigabyte windforce - all 670s.

Agreed about the mPower and the PSU though - although you may want to consider the 760/760i.

Also, which soundcard specifically do you have? and what headphones and speakers too?

IMO - full atx cases look stupid if you don't have watercooling and SLI. Maybe consider something a little smaller?

Hmmm didn't know that, but as far as I know that DCII and DCII Top are the same, with the same cooler but the DCII Top is clocked higher? I could be wrong though.

Anyway, generally can't go wrong with EVGA. The Gigabyte will probably run cooler but I personally literally can't stand that blue pcb that they have

Yeah i look at the msi mpower really nice bored
And what about the msi 680 / 670?
My sound card is a old cheap one thats why im look at a asus xonar have not pick one yet and speaker only just went the other week so look at new ones.
My headset is a logitech g930

Why the i7 and not the i5 3570k? Save yourself some money for pretty much same performance when gaming and such. Will only need the i7 if you are doing some video rendering and such...

Dante, the MSI is fine, just don't go with a reference design. Get yourself a nice Twin Frozr card :)

Whaler, he stated that he wants to do video editing in pretty much the first sentence of his post (:

Hi Dante, you picked some really nice components there :)

As far as water cooling goes, check out NZXT's Kraken series and Coolermaster's Eisberg. I think the Kraken will be in stores just in time for Christmas. Don't know about the Eisberg though.

If you're not in a hurry to build your new rig you may wanna wait a bit and see how these loops perform.

Im not in any hurry yet. and im pick a full atx becoz i was thinking when i want to do my own water cooling loo.
Was think of trying a cpu loop to get my self in to it. Saw a nice xspc kit that fit .
