Time Sync.

It's only fun if, when you power them on, they take off and start flying down your desk, only to take your fingers off when you try to stop them. Yeah Delta's, I'm looking at you!

Over the past three days I have been Reg from the Kenny Everett show. Seriously I am covered in cuts and wounds.

Going to take a couple of days off now. I need the bolts for the next stage thankfully, so it's time to veg and dose up on my brain meds so I don't overdo it.

Delta fans (Nidec, too) are downright dangerous. I've never toyed with those, just the noise is scary enough.

Did you know that back in the 90s some servers actually had 240v metal fans in. I took one home once. It was great to take to the back garden and throw potatoes into.

Also this -bugger off auto correct.

Techy moment..

So basically I bought the frames, right.

And I ran into a problem. I want to use this mount.

But because the frame has a ring protruding out and countersunk screws I could not just bolt it on. So I ask my pal with a lathe to make me some acrylic posts that fit into the frame, yet come out so I can space the res holder off of the frame.

He tried to make them earlier, but something went wrong. I said "Don't worry man there is no rush" which is not really like me. I am an impatient phallus.

So then I was poking round on Google trying to find something out about my USB hubs and I saw this pic.

Hmm, no, surely?

I don't recall getting anything like that, so I dug out the AC boxes (they are all the same ffs lol) and went through them. Sure enough sitting under the manual I had ignored was a baggy with those parts in. Will they work?

Seriously, that s**t never happens. So happy :D

Nice coincidence! Once you get into water cooling, you end up with BAGS of little do-dads like those.

No, no. I'm sure you'll find that what (usually) happens is that you end up with loads of stuff, store it for years, eventually throw it out because you'll never need it....and then need it the next day.

hahahaha so true. You have things kicking around forever and finally you concede that it's junk and will never be of use so you chuck it.

Very next day? you need it.

Quick status update.

And the other side.

Needing parts now so won't get those 'til the weekend. Has been a good week for modding though :)

Ignore the upside down Bitspower logo. There was nothing I could do about it, and besides it gets fully covered by the top.

Quick update. I am going to need a rig for when I am doing the final part of the build. I have an old board that apparently works, and I've ordered a Pentium for it (Ivy). That will then become a server/NAS. I need the CPU and cooler, then I can begin the strip out of the Triad.

I also needed more cabling (now got) to finish wiring up the fans and then the hard drives. I will probably get back to work on Monday..

Any way, in the mean time I got this.

Basically the PA3 works great, but the way I have it set up everything gets the same voltage. So that means even if my fans are silent at 12v I need to run them at 7 if I want to run the pump at 7. So I decided to get that ^ as it was on special for £29. Delivered.

At that price I have no qualms about just literally using it alone to run the pump separately.

I'm also waiting on the laser cut acrylic I ordered so I can finish and fit the front panel. Hopefully that (or a red "we missed you" note) will be waiting for me when I get home.

Thanks Arne.

I've learned a lot from this build. Not to rush, as I have with every other really. I wanted it right first time for once so I don't have to start pulling it apart lol.

You can always connect the PA3 to the Aquaero by Aquabus (the "High" port, the "low" doesn't do anything anymore) using the included 3-pin cable. You only need a 4-pin cable (not included) if the device needs power over Aquabus (such as a flow sensor). The PA3 needs power from a molecular anyway so 3-pin is fine. And then you can disconnect the USB unless you're upgrading firmware (common for Aquaero but rare for other devices). The PA3 can then run fan curves based on temperature even if it is only the Standard version rather than the Ultra as the Aquaero does the 'thinking'.

Yeah the Farbwerk has an Aquabus connector too. Not sure how it all works yet on that front, need to read some manualage.

Nah, don't do that.... you'll die of boredom!
Some devices have a through port (Aquabus in and Aquabus out - not important which way round they are connected, it's not directional) and some don't. There is a plug-in board to give four (if I remember correctly) ports but if you can make up your own cables, you can just make up Y splitters for two devices from one Aquaero...or three, four, five etc.

You will have to join me on Skype for a crash course dude. Honestly, I've bought all of this stuff and don't have a jar of glue how to operate it lmao. It's just like "ooo shiny ! what can I bring back to my nest this week?"

I never did even connect up the PA3. Well I did, once, dropped all the volts to 7 then took out the USB cable because it was a meter long and I could not hide it.

In the same boat as you AlienALX (serious lack of RTFM :)) have the Aquaero 6, Quadro, Hubby, Splitty 4, D5 Next and the 4x aquabus extender for the Aquaero. Driving fans is the easy part, but AquaComputer seem to bringing in a parallel bus for Rgbpx that makes you choose between Aquabus or Rgbpx on some devices i.e the D5 Next but at the same time there is RGB control built into the Aquareo via Aquasuite.

I can't say I've played with the RGBpx stuff....yet. Is it allowed to link to another forum where I've already answered a lot of questions? If it, Google my username and "Aquaero" and you'll find it. Happy to answer questions where I know the answer and it doesn't pollute AlienALX's thread.

I don't mind dude.

I may have this wrong, but is RGBpx different to Farbwerk? I know AC make an addressable controller and mine isn't.

Yes and you've got the nail on the head there. RGBpx is a string of RGB LEDs but each one is individually addressable - you can make them a rainbow or all red or any combination.
Farbwerk does RGB LED tape but all LEDS the same colour.

Yeah I asked some dude about this very thing on another forum the other day. I didn't know the difference, and in a way I am glad I have gone the path I have. It will take me long enough just to dial in all of this stuff. Could you imagine being able to basically program the LEDs? gawd, now *that* is a way to spend time !

The thing is the case is not addressable. However, it does do some cool s**t. Like for example it has some set presets, one of which is called "venom" and it basically slowly changes from yellow to green. From what I have been reading I *should* be able to replicate that using Aquasuite. Which tbh? is more than I could ever wish for. All I need to do is basically copy the method used by each set profile in the ACC (Alienware Command Centre) and then I can run the whole shebang the same.

But yeah, if you give me something like addressable LEDs I would vanish down the rabbit hole. It reminds me of programming fruit machines. Literal 23 hour shifts dude.

That said since I have been on the meds I am on now that compulsive side of me has died. I simply can't sit still for that long any more. And to think for those 23 hours I would usually have the same song on repeat :o

Got home last night thinking I would be met with either some goodies or red cards from the post office. Nada.

About all I can do for today is make up two molex runs.. They were splitter runs but I had a think earlier and the SATA runs (well, two of them) are molex - SATA. I did not want to overload the single molex run I had with splitters so I took the pins and connectors that came with the PSU and made two more red runs up.

Oh, and tested them obs (hence the meter there).

That's about all I can do today, aside from making the pump cover which I will crack on with later no doubt.
