Time Sync.

Success, and failure.

I arrived home at around 3pm yesterday. I did numerous jobs (changed bed, cleaned bathroom etc) and then set about the front panel. However, I ended up working until nearly midnight. I ended up finding the front panel didn't fit, and by this time I was tired and annoyed. I went a little gung ho with the belt sander, destroyed the front panel :(

I went to bed really annoyed, because everything else I did yesterday came out cool. I even fixed my bike in the interim..

Any way, today I made a new one (much grumbling and cussing)

Plastic welded on a set of sides, then plastic welded onto the case and tapped in four bolts.

Winning.

I wanted to say a massive thanks to Steve for sending me some RGB cables.

They have taken pride of place in the ever growing mound lol.

I also wanted to say that I did not just take that SRT badge and stick it there. I clamped it to a sheet of acrylic, then carved it. So it's actually fully backed by a black piece of acrylic.

I won't be doing much today as I had to be up at 7AM and I worked the entire weekend until gone 11PM. So I am taking a day off to wait for deliveries (PSU is coming today apparently).

Those nike shoes need to be burned!!! Orange??? my eyes burn... :D

Ah yes, those...

Many years ago (5) I was set to propose to my now ex wife whilst we were on holiday. What she didn't know was that I ordered those trainers there ^ with both our names on the back (they are from the custom make your own Nike thing). ID? something like that.

Any way, they were supposed to be a nice mellow orange colour.. They turned up as planned, about three days before our holiday (where I proposed) in reflective day glo orange. Seriously, these things look like a dustman's f*****g jacket. However, sadly it was too late to change them, so once I proposed in them we kept them as kind of a joke that made us smile every time we looked at them.

Believe me I have never worn them, nor have I ordered another pair of Nike IDs.

Sod's law? I now have a pair of very expensive (£160, I went balls out) Shox in the most horrific colour you could buy with my ex wife's f*****g name on them.

£160 is what it costs for a simple pair or addidas superstar II here. Avg prices are around £200 for trainers. :(

Every pair I have bought since have come from the outlet, @ 50% off or more. Most I have paid since then is £75 for my KD (blue and white knitted).

I get all my clothes from there now too.

PSU has entered the building. Been through it with a multi meter, seems spot on.

Cleaning and wrapping wires continues also.

Any worry I had about the PSU not having enough cables evaporated when I found this. How cool is this?

I'ma need me some cotton gloves.....

Well that's it, no more rust spinners for me. Been hawking for a 1tb SSD for ages now and a 960 just came up (960gb) for £80.

I will put the 2tb in the NAS and possibly mod the Raptor.. IDK, we'll see.

So last night after wrapping a lot of the case wiring in cloth tape (simply awesome stuff) I started thinking about the wiring. I realised that there was going to be a lot. More than any build I have done.

So I added more. Yes, this is an act of masochism.

I looked at all of those and they are all similar. Only most are 5v (useless to me) and the other half are Phanteks with bogus connectors you have to pay £4 each to convert. Yeah, nah.

So I got four of those (one single @ £7.99 and a triple pack for £18.99) and then of course I am going to need another one of these, not goosed (like the RAM one).

Which was £8.99. However, I scored the fans really cheap (£5 each) and this is subtle and can be put on any fan which I prefer the idea of.

Bit more done. When the pump arrived it was 12v molex and a blue signal cable. So I wired it into a 3 pin connector, braided it etc. The yellow is deliberate. It is so I know which one is the pump and where it is. This is important, because you can stop fans for ages but as soon as that pump stops your hardware hits 106c.

I've left the halos running all day cycling to make sure they are OK. One of the four was messed up so I have returned it and ordered three more. Overkill? yes probably but insurance. These are £18 for three, NZXT etc are £20+ for one. So I figured sod it.

When lit up the fan blade textures look great. I will need to have some parts made for the rad holder (nothing is final it's all just plopped on).

One thing that has been bothering me ever since I started the build is the fact that when you vertical mount a GPU the power cables are sent skyward. So instead of bending them sideways to make it out of the management hole I decided to get one of these.

fr4TVy2.jpg

For a mere £6, brand new. It will allow the cables to go straight out of the case.

I am also going to mod it with a splash of grey I think.

In other news I am going to need to have some custom parts fabricated in order to get the fan res mount on over the halos. Have spoken to a friend, should be doable :) I will also need some custom length bolts made up too, as there aren't any around that would be long enough.

On the Fury X sure.

Ed, in a different rig.

That is how it is now. I bought a new PSU so I can leave all that wiring in situ.. This is the rig it's in now (the powerlink)

I had to, because the hoses were in the way.

*thinks out loud*.

Decided to order a sheet of this..

It was something I saw a while ago on Wheeler Dealers. IDK if you watch it, but they basically took a car and did this to it..

So basically you have a vinyl that in certain lights does nothing at all. It's completely inanimate. Then you add light and you get this...

Img5qXu.jpg

I'm sure you get the idea. I have been drawing today so will play with it at some point.

Every time we go past page 10 of one of your builds, I start thinking this...

Looking forward to the next updates!

Yeah tbh I was thinking about it the other day and man, it's a deep rabbit hole. Thing is, I don't want to rush to finish it and then say "Well I wish I had done X Y and Z".

Regret. It sucks.

Ed. Just been doing some thinking. The next step, really, is getting some panels back on it and then stripping out the rig. Problem is that leaves me with no rig. I do have an Android box, so I will experiment with that when I get back and see how it rolls on a USB hub with a KB and mouse attached. If I can live with it I will start stripping.

I need the electronics. I've got a whole ton of AC crap I need to bolt to some sort of board to mount in the back side of the case. Problem is I need it on hand to measure and map out the holes etc. I can't do that without it.. I will mod the Powerlink as well and get that knocked out same day sorta thing. I will worry about possible vinyl later. Oh, and I also need to make a pump top cover. I think that is the last of the acrylic work, plus fixing the edge of the clock hole. I am painting the inner lip part in flat black, then cutting a bezel from black vinyl so it fits in more with the other stuff.

Oh yeah, I also have a crap ton of cables and stuff that arrived at my mother's. Also got two plastic 3.5 - two 2.5" drives. No spinners, thank god. I won't miss that really deep low hum the buggers make ! so I also have loads of data to juggle and etc..

It'll be done for Christmas :D
