Right my dad is needing a machine that needs to be low powered, an be able to do virtual machines. I was thinking of something with an AMD AM1 quad core 2.1ghz cpu, an 8 gig of ram, what are your thoughts on this.

Thanks

Not read up on the AM1 chips yet but I do know that Intel do the Thin Mini-ITX platform which can take up to a regular i3 or in some cases even an S series i5/i7.

I was thinking of AM1 to keep the costs to a minimum to be fair mate, he is running his own business an doesn't have a lot of capital at the moment

Fair enough, but I do have to admit that I don't know much about the performance of the AM1 chips. Honestly, I think it'd be a bit low-end for Virtual Machines? But then again VMs aren't exactly my area of expertise either.

Better off waiting for someone else to reply then :)

Thanks for your input all the same mate, anything has got to be better than what he is using at the moment to be honest
