Thinking about going watercooling

Alright, so I am heavily thinking about going watercooling on my rig that I have just built myself in January. However, now I am stuck on choosing parts for my loop. It is going to be based around a 240mm rad, and it will be CPU only, as of right now.

Now I have done a scan around many websites and found tons of parts, so I really need the experience of you guys and girls here at the forums. What do you recommend? Budget will be round 200-225€, but feel free to suggest what you think is best.

Also, I've seen some preconfigured kits like the XSPC Rasa RX240 and RS240, the EK H3o Supreme HF and others. How do those compare against each other? Because those seem to be at a great pricepoint?

Thank you in advance for all help

Like you I'm starting out with CPU only. I also have a 240mm rad. All my stuff is still sitting in a box waiting to be installed. I have other projects to finish first unfortunately. I pieced my kit together myself. The top of my case could only fit a thinner rad so I will see how this performs. If it's not what I want I will add a thicker 240 to the bottom of the case as well. I think I will be fine though, I've asked around quite a bit at other forums and checked different review sites after second guessing myself.

Might want to add a pump top to that list

isn't there one in there?

2nd item on the list:

Swiftech MCP355/LaingDDC 12v High performance pump

not sure if there are multiple pumps in a waterloop though, I am certainly no expert here

So basically what you are saying, is that I shouldn't bother with the kits from XSPC or EK, and just configure parts myself. If so, thanks to hmmblah for posting the list, I will use this as a guide on what I will need.

He needs a top for the pump so he can use bigger hose

Future upgrades! I want to get my feet wet first (hopefully not literally

), then I'll expand/upgrade as I go. I'll probably be doing a new system when 2011 launches so that should be a good time to expand my loop to GPU and do other upgrades.

Alright, so I have done some more searching and the like and I have come up with this list:

-EK Supreme HF CPU Block (65€)

-Laing DDC 1T pump (60€)

-EK DDC X-RES 140 resevoir with top for Laing DDC pump (50€)

-Black ICE SR1 240mm radiator (65€)

Now that totals at 240€ and doesn't include coolant, barbs, fans, and hose. So we are talking about more than 300€ in total cost. Now that is quite a lot of money, but I was expecting that with watercooling. However, I would be more than happy to cut down on cost at some parts, if possible. It doesn't matter that much if temps are going to suffer by 2-3°C.

Apart from that, what do you guys think about the XSPC and the EK kits I mentioned in the first post? They are both around 150-200€ and include everything, so they will be a lot cheaper. Will performance suffer much by choosing one of those kits? Because I really like those.
