OK lads and lasses, the wife is in need of a GPU to run the sims yes the sims

Anyways i would shout and give her my HD5500 but she has a small thin case ie my HD5500 was about 2 inches OUT of the case when i fitted it in to try

Anyways here is a link to a similar unit http://www.pcworld.co.uk/gbuk/lenovo-h520s-31-desktop-pc-14134707-pdt.html

the GPU is still horizontal so we are looking at a GPU that is silly thin

any help is appreciated, and the cheaper the better TBH money goes on my rig not hers

I have a low profile single slot ATI card of some sort here... I think it's a 3400 or something. I just remember playing Call of Duty on it on fairly decent settings. Sims might be more demanding then CoD though, I don't know. Does that sound like the kind of thing you need or do you need more power?

I will have a look at the spec requirements for the game when I get home in the morning unless my phone decides to start behaving itself And get back to you

On further inspection, she is just going to have to go without for now. i would need a new PSU and new case just in order to get a GPU fit enough for the sim

Yes i see a project coming on after i finish my build, but until then she can use the HD2000 that came with her CPU :P

I made a rig for someone who needed to play Sims, just using an A8-3870K - it looked like it would play it perfectly.
Came to under £300 without the OS and HDD.

You are looking for "Low profile" not a "Thin GPU"

Some of the Nvidia GT??? cards are low profile and can use a low profile bracket. (io is generally standardised on most cards.)

I am not sure how much the sims actually does on the shaders. So it would be worth checking.

Cards you can use.
