hi ive got a i5-2500k and will be oc it @4.2 - 4.4GHz with the be quiet dark rock advanced cooler.

can anyone tell me what is the best way to apply thermal paste, and is this a good cooler?

Its a nice looking cpu-cooler and it performs well on a 2500k.I like to use Noctua NH-T1.Arctic MX-4 is also a good tim to use.

One half a pea size tim in the middle and mount the cpu-cooler,tighten screws, and the tim will spead,or you could spread the tim in a thin layer before mounting the cooler.

If you're interested this is a good read.

Also the Dark Rock cooler, whilst good, is a pita to fit, as it needs to be screwed from the back of the motherboard. Its much easier as a 2 man job.

truth is dude most tim performs around the same, maybe a couple of c difference from the greatest tim to the average stuff so dont worry about the type and worry about getting the contact right with what came with it
