the toxic or vapor-x cooler

which is cooler is better, the Toxic edition ones or the vapor-x. i'm getting 2 4890 but i'm not sure which is cooler and quieter, been debating this for sometime because the 4890 toxic is soldout in newegg and its damn expensive too $259 a card while the vapor-x are like $219 and under

hey man,the toxic would be the better cooler as i think it has some heatpipes and a kinda seporate chamber (not sure) and it has a higher clock than the vapur X whitch leads me to beleve it has a better cooler, but they are both good cards,i would get the xfx 4890 BLACK IMO

my friend has that and its the noisy as hell, besides i'm sure the toxic and maybe vapor-x can hit 1ghz coreclock anyways

maybe some of the xfx 4890's are loud some are not all depends man,the toxic is suppost to be able to reach 1Ghz the reason i said the xfx is that a card already at 1Ghz will OC further than the toxic or vapour-X

IMO the xfx 4890 Black is the best becouse its just sheer power, just W/C it lmao

Do you guys think the vapor-x cooling is sufficient to operate if your cards are sandwiched in crossfire? my PCI-E slots only have one slot between them.

have a look on the ati site or the online store it should say Xfire compatable/ready i think it is tho it will be fine all depends how many slots you have on your mobo as you could stick the 2nd card in the 3rd PCI slot.

The Toxic, at least the new 4890 2GB variant is a Vapor-X that also has a few extra heatpipes (3 of them) for improoved cooling, a shroud that covers the whole cooler, and a different fan.

The Toxic is more efficient then the Vapor-X, has higher clocks (960Mhz or something for the core vs. 850 on the vx), and should provide the same or better noise levels at idle. At full load... all solutions produce some kind of noticeable noise.

But according to this review, noise levels on the Toxic are REALLY low.

dont all the vapor-X's have the same amount oF heatpipes, well the 4870-4890 1Gb 2Gb,they are both good ATI cards.

i would go with toxic personally as i had a toxic 4870 and it kept the card alot cooler than stock cards and no problems overclockin either
