I'm looking for a new case for my 'Conroe' build, and the Lian Li PC-S80 looks like a potential home for it. An OC3D review of it would be sweet...Pretty please :)

An interesting case for sure - i'll see what we can do.

Looks a bit strange tho as according to another review, it doesnt even have proper power buttons :/

Yeah they are a little odd for sure, but I've got big plans for this case. And seeing as it's quite inconspicuous (as far as other cases go), it's a blank canvas waiting to be modded :yumyum:. Effort appreciated mate :D

If you dont mind me sugesting, i would like to sugest (assuming you can get hold of one) a Hiper Type R 580W Modular power suply, as, i do have one, however ian (a former member of this forum) has had his fail on him, it overloaded, i am hopeing mine wont do the same, and a review on one, a review like xms has done on others, might put my mind at ease, as the innards would be looked at, and things pointed out, i would also like to see how it performs, as i can moniter it, but not too well in my system.

thanks.

Hi Doomie, i'm afraid that i've already tried to get hold of a Hiper PSU, but they turned us down.

The opinion of the Type-R's is pretty much split down the middle. Lots of people like them for the modular design and stable rails, while lots of other people have had serious problems with them.

It's also worth noting that the 580w Type-R's are actually 500w. Hiper relabeled a 500w unit and added all the modular connectors to it.

Give it a try - if you manage to pull it off i'll give you a long list of all the other companies that do it and we can split the compensation ;)

Hiper turned you down? i wonder why.

In that case (no pun intended) the only other thing i would like to see a review of, is the Lian Li PC-75BK found here: http://www.chillblast.com/product.php?productid=200&cat=83&source=froogle

Specialtech also stock this case, but they are out of stock, and have been for a while, i am after getting one, and will do if i can find a review on one, which at the moment is kind of hard, if you check google, nothing much comes up.

If you could do a review on this case, it would be aprechiated.

And if specialtech could get them back in stock, that would be good also, i would rather buy them from there, as i can get a discount, for being a member. :p

thanks.

EDIT: Just a thought, if someone is buying one for themselves, they could perhaps send it in for a review before they use it? Or if it would come in usefull then maybe it would be worth buying?

Hey doomie22 check out Kempez' build log here He has exactly the same case that you're looking for, and I'm sure that when he has a free moment could slip you some details...pro's/cons etc.

Thanks for that link PV5150, it is the same case essencially, i am looking for the version with the side window pre-installed howerver, but i am guessing there wont be that many differences between them, so yes, i will ask him, thanks again for the sugestion. :)

EDIT: A review would stil be good, if Lian Li can be perswaded to hand over one of there cases!

Your best bet would be to ask in the SpecialTech section to see if they can get one in for you. I think they had to import Kempez's one from Germany.

As PV said, the case is great - but i don't think we'll be able to get it for review straight from Lian Li as the case is simply just too old and hard to get hold of nowdays.

Lian Li do a new case very similar to this one, but i cant remember the model number - i'll try and find it out for you.

Please review the popular conroe mobos - i dont know which to choose!!!

Well there's a review of a 'Bad Axe' coming up sometime in the next 2 weeks, and Kempez has the DS4 :)

After looking at the boards myself i've come to the conclusion - there is no one good motherboard.

Gigabyte DS3 - Very basic board, Does around 480fsb, 965 chipset works best with low end conroes < E6600

Gigabyte DS4 - A few extra bits over the DS3, better NB/Mosfet cooling, everything else same as DS3

Intel D976XBX - Minimalist board, Very stable, does around 450FSB, 975 chipset works best with E6600 or above

Asus P5W DH - Feature packed to the max!, requires bios flash for full conroe support, does around 420FSB, 975 chipset works best with E6600 or above

DFI Infinity 975 - Has lots of problems including IRQ sharing issues, does around 380FSB

well im aiming for the e6600 and g.skill 2gb 6400 ram (which i have been told is overkill) and really i cant see me be able to afford the what i have been told dual graphics (just buy the latest card).

all i want is a high performance single graphics board able to have newer components in the future with good overclockability (i won't use it till i start to get bad performance)

DS4 ftw?

wots wrong with the gigabyte dq6?

Its got more issues than a blonde female celebrity at the moment.

Personally i'd go for the Bad Axe with the E6600 and the DS4/3 for anything below an E6600
