The left handed thread.

I was wondering how many other left handed people there were on this this forum so I thought I would start a thread for all things left handed.

Here is one of my favourite left handed people.

Although I only use my left arm for eating and writing. I use my right arm for everything else. Used to be able to write with both but haven't done it in years.

My brother is left handed. Always played golf right handed though.

I once learned to use my feet to do things. I was dead good at it and could even open a Zippo and light up a cigarette. I do weird things like that, just in case I lose both hands. I also learned to navigate and use my mother's house without opening my eyes. So having a wee etc.. Must be cool to be ambidextrous. My cousin just lost all of his fingers in a grass shredder on a lawn mower and it was his writing hand. He's not doing to well with his left either apparently.

I also prefer left hand drive cars to right hand drive because I don't like shifting with my left. It feels weird.

Oh, and I am going to convert my bike to LHD as well

As to being ambidextrous it is something a lot of left handed people can do as everything is made for right handed people and you just learn to deal with it. I am a left handed person by birth but am good with both hands which comes in handy like when I was at school doing woodwork and used to get tied using my left hand I could just switch to my right and carry on. I have still got some of the stuff I made 40 years ago doing woodwork at school.

You mentioned Tesla in another thread earlier, he was a lefty too.

Yep that old trick you see in the movies where they throw an object towards a person will not work with a lefty, they will just catch it with the closest hand.

im a lefty for most things. But I have no issues using right hand. Except for writing.

You know what though.. had we lived a few hundred years ago we would have been executed.

Left=Latin for Sinister or sinistra. We were considered evil people, and not the right hand of god

YES it's a struggle. Even the ambidextrous ones don't feel right in the hand

The guy from my street had his left hand tied behind his back buy his father so he could learn to write with his right... So sad to see there are multiple cases...

I am also ambidextrous. Apart from not writing with my left (i have never bothered) i really have no issues using both hands. If it is more convenient to do it with one rather than the other hand i do it with that hand. I can solder with both hands for example.

While I think that sucks he got his hands beaten I sure am jealous he can write so neat.

One of the reasons I got into PCs is because my writing was so bad, I have even had people at work ask me to use my right hand to write stuff because it is marginally better than my left sometimes lol.

Fortunately on a PC text is text however you inputed it.

My first father in law was a lefty. I forgot about that ! he had this amazingly expensive guitar. Gambler? casino? something like that. It was right handed, so he used to string it and play it upside down. Les Paul? IDK. I know it was worth silly $.
