The Coach Returns - One Time Only!!

There has been plenty of 'friendly competition' recently between TEAM EPUK and other xtreme sites for the mbot crown.

Because of this, I, The Coach was coaxed out of retirement by Gollum for a week of 2001se ACTION.

The path was long and hard, the goal was to reach the ORB no2 spot once again.

The competition standing in my way looked as though he was 2fast4me (get it?) especially as his CPU was clocked higher (FX57) and his graphics cards were volt modded works of art with core clocks of over 600Mhz, versus my measley 515mhz.

I have tweaked every ounce of performance from my rig, thru BIOS settings (especially the ram) riva, clockgen and A64 Tweaker.

Finally at 2140hrs today I reached a pinnacle score of 46446 :D

At that point for me it was mission accomplished, Gollum however being the young pup he is - told me to go for more.

TBH I had had my fill by now and this was reflected in my response, but taking a deep breath and counting to 10 I decided 'one more go'.

The result?

A jaw dropping 46475!!!

Back to no2 in ORB, TEAM EPUK 4EVA.

MY NEW SAYING - NO ONE IS 2FAST4ANY1 :p

And as I stare a full on divorce in the face, I really am retired........... At least 'til I get some new kit ;)

The Coach

PS: Thanks to Gollum for all his encouragement and for using his maths technique for the good of EPUK performance comparisons as I sweated thru each gruelling benchmark.

Reading that...I felt the rush...the agony of the wait, and the ecstacy of victory. Truely inspirational.

Oh...and you could probably write pretty addictive novels with that writing style, or, if integrity means nothing to you, write hype stories for a tabloid :)

Congrats Sir :)

Awesome. I like the fact you do it with lower clocks.

Why don't you get a BIOS with a higher Vcore on the 7800?

I am usign a 1.5v BIOS now.

Others above me have pelt cooled - volt modded units pumpig 2.2v into the core itself, I can't go any higher with what I have unfortunately.

Sorry to thread-jack, but do any of you know of a BIOS for a 6600GT with higher VCore and VDDR? I was planning a volt-mod when I get my idea working, but BIOS flash would be much easier.

Thanks,

Kenny

The best bios resource site I know for GPU bios is http://www.mvktech.net/content/view/1094/

You could also download NiBiTor which allows you to change the settings of your current bios then re-flash the card. (be careful as it allows extreme settings for avanced cooling!)

Mav, how come you don't go w/c peltier route?

I use innovatek block that cool the ram on the front of the cards also so I would need to stick copper strips onto the ram cooler just to make contact when a pelt is installed.

The I have never wired a pelt up and wonder if my 850w daddy could manafge the load i got no room for a meanwell unit.

Also if you look at 2001, 2 be fair it's cpu limited - you only have to look at the scores 2fast4u has achieved on 03 and 05 (well more 03 really) to see that.

Not really much to gain until physics chips come out or games/benchies are dual core optimised.
