The best insulation

We would strongly recommend you use armourflex and dielectric grease as a precaution.

Now I'm about to setup my Mach2 ST once again and I want to get the insulation etc PERFECT this time round, it's on an IC7-MAX3 btw.

I assume I need armourflex and dielectric grease? Where could I get these items from (online preferably) and is there anything else I need at all? I'm hoping to get this set up and not have to mess with it in two months time!

Thanks

So I just smother my ZIF with this stuff yeh? In the pin holes and everything?

thats the way :) fill it all, cpu might be hard to get in but just give it a push and any excess grease will come out the side

I had a fairly worryign experience with my GT on tuesday, its my first time iv used it.

But anyway i came to take it off my MSI diamond Board to find when i took off the CPU hold down bracket i had 2-3mm of ice over the sealstring around the CPU.

Im completly baffled what im doing differnetly but if i hadnt of been running it 24/7 i think i could have lost a fair few components in that cock up.

Maybe if i try to describe how i set it up people could pick holes inwhat i did wrong.

AMD64 Mount Bracket on the front had Seal srtong around the edge to cut air out, i then spread seal string along all the componenst that went under the bracket.

I then also added Seal string to the gap between the Plastic /metal of the hodd down to make it air tight, i then added seal string to the top of AMD64 Bracket. which the Evap Housing then claps down onto.

Yeah, i've opened up mine before and found slight condensation inside... whats this about smothering the ZIF(?) with grease?

I max out at 285 @ 2.5-3-3-6 with my Geil Ultra X

But i Max out at the same In the DFi board.

So far my MSi has been the better of the two boards.

The DFi is really nice if you want/need the voltage options.

Iv got the MSI up to a stable 2.9Ghz on my 3000+

In the DFi i cant but i havent spent much time on my DFi and i dont think its likeing my ram 2 much despite having tried a few Bios.

If MSi added the same voltage options or your willing to Mod then i think its the better board.

OK chaps, I set this up a couple of days ago, so far, not had any problems.

Perhaps you could sticky something Phil along the lines of dielectric grease = essential.

I took my time, put the grease all in the ZIF and all around the socket where the mounting kit sits and also on the back where the heater element goes. The box has been on solid for 48hrs with no problems. I also shut it down overnight and started it back up in the morning, again, with no problems, which is a huge relief this time!

Temps: 2.8C @ 3.5 @ 1.7v = -21C idle and -8C full load, dual prime stable for 21 hours.

Not a stellar overclock but this mobo has never been that great.
