The Best 1080p GPU

Alright guys
I want to get myself a new GPU, probably buy it off eBay seeing as I can grab it cheaper than retail.
So what would be your recommendations for a 1080p single monitor card that will handle anything I throw at it?

Cheers

For 1080P I wont even suggest a 1080 card unless you plan to upgrade your monitor to at least a 1440p. It is a complete overkill.

For a 1080p screen I think a 1070 card is more than enough for you.

That being said, I dont think there is much difference between the 1080FE cards and the AIB cards that are now released, albeit a few fps increases. The benefit of the 1080FE (reference board) is that it will dump heat outside of your case via the cooling exhaust.

edit* I failed to read your post correctly.. My brain gets 1080p and 1080gpu mixed up ;)

so based on what I have actually read correctly now, I would just wait for the NDA to be lifted on the RX 480 cards and see the reviews on this one. It is going to be extremely cheap compared to Nvidia and might be the best option for you.

Don't forget you can run AMD VSR (virtual super resolution) or Nvidia DSR (Dynamic super resolution) to increase the resolution above 1080p.

However to answer your question - Radeon RX 480 4gb

Personally wouldn't chance it with 4GB, Even some games now at 1080P can use a bit more than 4GB, Take Shadow of Mordor for example, Even at 1080P it can easily surpass 4GB and with the HD texture pack can use even upwards of 8GB.

Awesome, just need to hope the release date isn't long after it.

It will be on sale the 29th mate from OCUK they already have the stock and the 8GB variant won't be that much more than the 4GB

I was thinking about getting 2 of them as I game at 1440p and have a freesync monitor but i'll wait for the reviews before I decide my next graphics card "it may well be the 1070" as for a 1080p monitor I would wait until you have chosen which graphics card to buy and go from there. It also depends on what size monitor you want as well for us to provide a recommendation for you :)

Well if its already in stock then thats awesome. Hopefully we wont have to wait for more like the Fury

Gibbo from OCUK says he has over 100 in stock but they are only reference cards at launch no AIBS as of yet and not expected until mid to end of July

Right now I would say GTX 970. It's more than plenty for 1080p gaming. However in a few the new AMD RX 480 could actually be a far better deal.

Love the fact people are saying about the RX480 when we dont really know anything about it yet.

I know loads about it. Iv'e done nothing else for weeks :D

I know that it is sounding like it will sit between the 970 and 390x but use less power and put out less heat (73c is the highest I've seen and that was OC).

Best case scenario you get a good clocker and it will be between the 980 and Nano, though that has not been confirmed yet because I think that was done with a custom MSI card.

The only other card I could compare it to would be the 970 at its new cut price. Only the 480 has a full 4gb of VRAM and in theory is cheaper.

The only caveat I could possibly think of is that according to a friend of mine in high up places they don't clock very well. 1389mhz has been the fastest yet (so 120mhz or so).

Not so hot.

I can honestly say the 970 is a perfect card for 1080, I own one and chose to upgrade to 1440 based on performance at 1080. Good card at 1440, perfect at 1080.
