The Antique Rig

That'd be nice mate :)
I'll talk to my parents, they're ancient and quite paranoia when it comes to getting things from people on the internet. They even think our iPad can get hacked when reading our mail in the built in mail app.
 
So tomorrow is the day. Finally.
I'm going to the store to at least talk about a new rig, and maybe even buy it :D
I'm absolutely stoked! I'll update y'all tomorrow in the evening, as we're also getting my sister an IPod Shuffle and I need new sneakers. :p
 
The Antique Rig is saved!
I managed to re-install Windows 7 on it!
Though, I will still get a laptop from my parents probably, and in a month or so, a new gaming pc :D
Quite happy the thing is alive again though :D

How did you do that? Shock the mainboard a couple of times with a defibrilator?

I decided to try and power it on again, and it powered on, but windows was gone :p
Now it's back to life though :p
And in a few days / a week or so, I'll get a new laptop :D
I'm thinking Toshiba C855D-160.
AMD A6-4400M
AMD Radeon HD7520G
4GB RAM
Windows 8
320GB HDD
For a mere £340 / €400.
Will see soon though, I might as well go Intel Core i3 3rd gen with intergrated graphics. Should play Dishonored and LoL fine :p

Nah, Win 8 is fine to me :p
I helped my parents with their new laptop, and I found win8 not too bad at all :p
And with my next gaming rig, I'll also get windows 8 (my friend has a business license, which he can use 30 times, so he offered me one :p). I like the idea to synch the two things :D

i had to work quite often with win8 and the whole metro thing drove me mad. it's like having to use two PCs simultaneously, there is no connection to the normal desktop. i just ended up running a virtual machine with win7.
 
Well he says he is perfectly happy with Win8, so why push your argument?

You only need to use metro for a fraction of a second to launch a program and the rest of your time you are on the good old desktop. I really don't see a problem.
 
So my mom just got home: 'Oh, you've made your pc? Them you can just keep saving up and won't need a laptop, right?' Ffs...
Sometimes I really, really hate my parents.
 
Would they know if you say you tried but failed? :p

I mean, you could just take out the RAM or whatever and they probably wouldn't even notice. I know it's not completely fair, but neither is the fact that they leave you with this ancient PC (that can't even run Window 7 decently) while they go out and buy a big TV, and iPad and a laptop (for themselves)?
