Temp probes

Right this ones a strange one really.

Can I alter the length of the wire on a thermister so I can get the probe itself up to something while having the display mounted in the bottom of my case?

They are normal Lian Li style temp monitors with little LCD displays with the probe connected directly to the display.

Cheers

Hmm you'd need to find out what metals were used in the probes i think if you were planning anything with extending yours.

How far are you trying to measure as i know the ones on my lian li temp display are long enough to reach pretty much anywhere

It shouldn't be a problem. If it's an analog probe the thermistor will just be a temperatue resistor. This means that it's resistance will just vary as the temperature changes. The control board will be calibrated to change the display temp to the different resistances it detects. As far as i know, changing the length of wire will not affect this unless it is adding significant resistance to the circuit.

Digital probes don't seem to be affected by the length of wire either, as they can be used in loops without any adverse symptoms :)

Needs to go about 1m extra I think. They aren't actually Lian Li ones they are like them and have about 50cm of cable on them already, which isn't going to be enough.
