Strange problems with board and or memory

Ok guys lately ive been expierencing issues

First was when i turned my PC on it would just suddenly during post automatically shut down everytime i unplugged the HDD and this was fixed??

and now while i was gaming on stock clocks my PC crashed in 5-10 mins and now i cant use my 8 GB memory anymore it only says i can use 3.99 GB of my 8.00 GB

whats going on????

get the windows instalation disc and run repair setup

are you running 64bit? if so then run msconfig, boot, advnaced, max memory set to 8gigs

try not to change too much in there if you dont want to brick your os launcher

Have you just built the system or is this out of the blue on a system that has been fine for a while? if you system has been running for some time it could be memory mb cpu or power source. memory or mb seem most likely. can you test the memory in another system? if not can you test one dim in the same socket one at a time? after that check a known good dim in each slot. sometimes a proper reseating for dims or cpu is all you need. if not it should not be too hard to narrow down mb or memory and replace.
