Stock i5 2500k temps

Hey guys,

Just installed my NH-d14 today and just wanted to check over the temps I'm getting at stock. I'm not sure they're correct. I stupidly didn't write down any temps I have from my stock cooler before and just wanted to know what you guys get. I have a fractal design r3 case with the 2 fans that come with it if your wondering what fan setup I have.

Am I just paranoid or are these okay?

If I remember right, a friend of mine with a 2500k and a D14 had around those temps at stock, he thought they were a bit high, but overclocked they didn't rise too much..

Maybe your motherboard just has a bit too much volt on it for stock? Don't know about this on Sandy Bridge, but motherboards do this on X58 all the time..

Think he had around high 40's (48-49) and low 50's on stock with prime, and now he tops on around 60C with a 4.5GHz overclock

Try some overclocking and check the temps overclocked

You using the low noise adapters? Ambient temps? That's the two factors I can think other than mounting it wrong or having too much TIM that affects the temps

Thanks for the info, I'll be overclocking it in a few days. I'm relatively new to overclocking so I'm just reading up on it. And no the fans are at full speed and I'm unable to get the ambient temps.

they are fine, my 2500k is at 4.3ghz and ive hit 59c before

I ran 38 idle @ stock and 41 load @ stock

but max temps with a 4.5ghz OC has been 61 so far and usually stays around 58

Don't think I ever saw 50c at stock with my Kuhler 620...now at 4.6 I can hit mid-60's under prime.

I have the same combo and those temperatures look fine. If you've only just built it, the thermal paste will take a couple of days to settle in and then the temps will drop a degree or 2.

If he is using the noctua stuff it doesn't need to "settle"

Noctua stuff is OK-ish, I get a couple degrees lower with IC 7

I too am wondering about this... i havent run prime yet, but my idle temps are about the 39/40 mark with max of 50 after i played the shogun 2 demo. (running same set up of i5 2500k and nh-d14)

my little temp thingy is reading 24 degrees but i dont know how reliable that is.... it is very warm in here
