Steelseries 7H or Roccat Kave?

hello members of overclock3d.net !

So yeah here is my question above...

I was wondering what I should take if I'm going to use the on-board sound-card with the Roccat or the USB sound card with the 7H.

The difference between the two is that the Roccat is 5.1 real surround ( some say that this is just worse than virtual sound ... ) and the 7H has 7.1 virtual surround.

I don't have the budget to go en buy a extra sound card. ( or maybe a budget card that has been reviewed here, the xonar dg)

So what would be your advice, 7.1 virtual or the 5.1 real surround? The overall build quality of the headsets is good. Oow I almost forgot, what is the best in the new games out there now the 5.1 real or the 7.1 virtual? ( the headset will be used for gaming

Thanks in advance !

USB Steelseries 7H will be better if you are using onboard sound. What motherboard do you use btw, since it might have a decent onboard audio.

I will be using the ASUS P8P67 Pro with the Realtek 892 audio chip.

But I was also thinking about the PC 360. I read a very good comments on that headset. Even with use of onboard sound card !

If you are willing to spend the money on a PC 360, what about the ASUS Xense bundle that comes with a PC 350?

Epic gaming sound card + epic gaming headset = epic gaming. All at a cost that's slightly lower than a PC 360 = YAY!!!!

I have a 7h Usb. I can recommend it for the virtual surround, but the mic is terrible, but I'm well aware it could be just mine.

Sennheiser's headsets are just incredible. I would get what Zeals says, as PC350 needs amplification to work as it should.

I will take the HD595 and the Auzentech Forte 7.1, about the same price and better ^^

I'll receive my PC360 in a few days and gonna compare it to my Kave I am wearing right now.

Expect a full review up in a few days.

They are but you can use them for gaming to they are the same as the 360 just that the 360 is modified and the 595 is not. So if you have a soundcard that supports 7.1 for gaming you can use it for gaming ! It is an open headset too, and some say it performs better than a Pc360 in both gaming and music. It does not have a mic/volume control attached to it. ( but I don't mind )
