So I'm a complete n00b when it comes to OCing, I only just started to understand s775 boards just as SB came out, so forgive my ignorance.

I have't started OCing as of yet but this is my stock clock/temps:

These any good? I don't actually know anything about decent temps and such so your help would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Don't worry dude, there are plenty of OC pro's here at OC3D which have helped me no end....

Good luck!

Idle temps seem a bit high, should be around 30*c, your load temps are ok though.

You should be able to get 4.5ghz easy with a 2500k, just set the CPU ratio to 45 and work your way up from 1.28v until you are stable. 2500ks usually take between 1.28 and 1.35v for 4.5ghz stable, just depends on how good your chip is.

Do you have stock cooling or aftermarket on your cpu ?

Temps cooled from Prime95 are now 35C, is this still high? When playing, say bf3 for example, temps are usually around 38C-42C. Ha, hope the chip is decent, but 4.5ghz should be plenty for me.

I have a watercooling loop, so I'm going assuming temps aren't that great with my current setup? My room is pretty warm mind you (warmest in the house).

35 sounds alright, around 30 is the norm give or take a few *c either way, so i'd say 35 is ok.

That's a relief! Thanks Sieb. When I cold boot after a while it settles around 33-34c as well. Think I'll hit up the oc tomorrow. Will post up the results

Can I just ask how exactly do I control the voltage via the bios? How does using the offset and +/- affect the idle voltage or the turbo voltage? For LLC, I have 3 options; Auto, Enable, Disable. What exactly does PLL do?
