SSD Speeds help!

Hey guys,

Checked my SSD speeds today and I can't for the life of me understand why they're so low??

Does anyone have any ideas or tips on how I can get them closer to what the rated speeds are or give me an idea why they're benching so ridiculously low.

AHCI appears to be set just fine, Trim is enabled and as you can see from Intel RST it's connected to a sata 6Gb/s port.

Go into device manager and check disk drives. If it has AHCI in the drive name then its enabled.

It doesn't look like AHCI is enabled. In AS SSD msahci should be there instead of iaStor.

Hey dude, I'm pretty sure that iaStor is just the intel equivalent or msAHCI. I think...

No.if it is showing msachi then it means it is using the windows driver and not the intel one, which is what it SHOULD be using if you want the best performance.

@OP: Your drive alignment is way out,103424k=lolwut,Mine is not set properly this time as I forgot to do it,but mine is only at 4096k,with your drive running that way,you will lose speed and will wear it down faster.

How do i resolve this? What do you mean by alignment mate?

EDIT: I think that may be a misread. In Sys info my alignment seems to be fine

I also gave another Benchmark (ATTO) a try and appear to be getting the numbers I should. Is it possible this was down to the benchmark not working well with the controller on the Corsair SSD?

Try CrystalDiskMark and post a screeny mate

Will give that a go when I get home and post.

On a positive note, my new SSD from Tom (now called my "Game Drive") is working perfectly :D

Try CrystalDiskMark and post a screeny mate

Tried Crystal mark and got the same slow read speeds as in AS SSD of around 200mb/s max and lower on the write speed

Edit: Woops sorry about the double post

sure it is connected to a sata 3 port?

Yup that's been double checked!

I'm almost starting to wonder if the slow down is just due to the SSD starting to show some age.

I mean the read speeds aren't hugely off benchmarks online. It seems the Force 3 SSDs don't achieve 500+ read speeds on most benchmarks. 200 seems closer to the mark.

That said I still don't feel my speeds should be so slow
