SpecialTech

What are people's experiences of Special Tech recently? I did a search and notice that they used to be partnered on here, a partnership that was dissolved for some reason or another.

The reason I ask is that I'm tempted to order a case from there so I'd like to know if, for example, their shipping/packaging is poor or if the customer service is lacking etc.

Specialtech are good, I've never had problems with orders from them although there have been people on here that have.

I don't think they ever had a partnership with OC3D, not one that I remember anyway. Tom has always recommended them in vids and such and still does as far as I know though. He posted on the TTL FB about the 900D being available from ST just the other day anyway.

In my experience they are slow to send the stuff out. Weeks slow once. But once dispatched its as fast as anywhere else on the mainland.

I've had no trouble with them and had stuff delivered with in 2 days at the most, customer service is excellent. I have got to the point where I use aria for hardware ST for water never look elsewhere

Well the post I saw announcing it was from 2006

I'm looking at getting this but the courier is FedEx who I've had no experience of at all.

I would normally buy from Aria too, but they don't seem to have the "Core" (no mesh or window) model. It works out as just over £44 with the FedEx delivery on ST, but then adding the mesh and badge (if I eventually decide to go that route) will probably negate the saving now I think about it

They can be...
They normally dispatch stuff out the same day, but sometimes their website's stock check doesn't update too well, so you buy things that they say are in stock, and they sometimes don't notify you if it isn't.

If you ring up before making an order just to check the availability of something, then you won't have any problems and you'll get it out the same day.

2006 a bit before my time here :D don't know what happened with that then.

FedEx are good also, I use the Specialtech free delivery through a deal they have on their forums which is a delivered within 3 days service and they have always delivered next day.

Guessing there are requirements to qualify for the shipping deal though?

Ah, I've been registered on there for months (forgot I'd even done it until it told me my email address was in use) but I have 0 posts. Never really been a big forum kind of person, with the exception of this and a MK3 Astra owners club

Might just bite the bullet and order the case from Aria. If my thoughts for the case don't come to fruition then I'd be buying the mesh etc anyway so wouldn't really be saving anything, and at least with Aria I've used them before. Will end up going to ST for the watercooling anyway eventually.

Thanks for the input guys.

I've had problems with every order I have ever placed. Be it late in sending stuff out, to items being marked as in stock but they are not. I have ordered a Bitspower res 3 times the first it was marked as being in stock, when I phoned to make sure they said yes it would be shipped out that day, the following day nothing arrived, due to the res not being in stock. The second was last week ordered the res along with a bunch of other stuff my parcel arrived the following day but no res, I phoned them to be told they were waiting for it to come in, they will try and send it out for Saturday delivery it didn't come. And another time a reoeat of the first. I could go on for a while to be honest, All but one order has been a balls up, The worst thing is they don't notify you about what is going on,. The thing is I still order from them most of the time due to I like getting everything from one place, and when you speak to them they are great, and do what they say they will do. I found if you keep in touch every step of the way ( which costs me a fortune I've only got a mobile ) that is the best way to deal with them.

my first order come out fast but they sent a wrong cable, a molex to sata rather than a 24 pin. i sent support an email and it got sent out right away.

I buy all my watercooling bits and bobs from ST, as well as my current case, and all modding supplies such as braiding and sheet materials like aly and acrylic. I think they've got a great range of WC products, they always dispatch orders really fast, and very quick delivery every time I've ordered from them

Yeah the lack of communication has come up a couple of times while searching, but I figured it was isolated cases just assuming that most people only usually review/comment to complain about something.

Decided if I go with the Shinobi I'll order it from Aria. The hardware will be coming from there anyway as I've never had a single issue with them, the water-cooling bits will likely be coming from ST though.

I've had the exact same problem with Scan, the only difference is Scan will let you no about non stock, but at around 9 pm

im working on an order at the minute but the delivery is £40 pounds. i think these companies like to stick the arm in with deliveries. i can send a pallet 2 day from belfast to leeds for 60 quid. then when i inevitably forgot one cable ill have to spend another 20 on delivery and weait an extra 2 weeks for iot to arrive. does anyone else find delivery prices a joke
