Spec me a motherboard and cpu

Please spec me a motherboard and cpu I would like to be able to overclock @4gz plus as cheap as possible. Been looking at 1155 /1156 motherboards.
Right don’t slam me chaps, now I used to be into the overclocking lark many many year ago but haven't bothered in many years, so now I want to update my pc for something I can overclock more. Now I know that 1155 is the norm now but I’m looking at 1156 and 1155 from what I can remember the 1156 and 1155 chips I have seen from £50-£70 used mainly
Intel Core i3-550 Core CPU Processor 3.20GHz/4MB Cache/09A L0148158 SLBUD £62.46 1156
Intel Core i3 540 Processor (4M Cache, 3.06 GHz) 1156 £57.03
Intel Core i3-540- 3.06GHz Dual-Core (SLBMQ) LGA1156 £54.99
Intel Core i5-650 3.20GHz/4M/1250MHz SLBLK CPU £59.31
Now my goal is 4gz plus so what can you guys recommend I’m also after a motherboard to go with it as well. From what I gather my best bet motherboard wise From searching I found this P67, Z68, Z77, Z75 or X79 I’m not sure if many of those top boards are in my price range unless they are at a good used price.
I would prefer a pro 1155 or 1156 motherboard as I gather they have the most oc features for cpu
Looked at this board but not sure if it has enough for oc 4gz plus ASUS P8H61-M PRO the only reason I picked it was because from what I have read the pro boards have the full oc bits
Yes I want to do this cheaply so what can you guys suggest.
I used to use computer fairs a lot so I can locate most bits cheaply.

Hi dude,
in my opinion, it would be best to go for a cheapp 1155 CPU as from the listed CPU's if you just want it for some overclock practic as you could say, i would go for cheaps 1155 CPU as you get cooler temps.
i dont know about the differences much from P67 and Z68 but would say go for Z68 or Z77 (but i dont know about this stuff, i have a Z68)
basicly what i would do in your position is go online and look at something like Ebuyer for CPU and MOBO deal where they come as a bundle and get a cheap something like that.
Look at Ebuyer's outlet section, it has EXDisplay products.
http://www.ebuyer.com/search?condition=outlet&store=2
hope i have helped.

whats your total budget ? do you have ddr3 ram already?

we can help you but without a budget to work too we cant exactly spec it if you get what i mean :D

but as for your requirements wanting a pro board being able to clock 4ghz and above i would look at z77 and a core i5 3570k mobo and board can be had for under £300 with ram...

None of the CPUs you have listed can be overclocked. Not unless they are 1156 chips.

They all have locked multipliers and bus clocking on SB or IB will simply destroy your CPU.

I would make sure you know what you're doing before you order anything.

you will NOT achieve 4.0 GHz on any of those CPUs. we are no magicians, we can't just make a 4.0GHz happen in any price league. if you want to overclock you will have to be willing to spend a few bucks. as said before, z77 and a 3570k are pretty much mandatory. overclocking a locked cpu is a pain in the ass and usually doesn't result in a whole lot, especially with intel cpus since intel OCs are highly dependent on the multiplier.
if you are just into overclocking and want to keep it cheap you must consider AMD.

If they'e 1156 they will overclock OK. IIRC one of the I3s does 4ghz. Harder getting an I5 that high though due to more cores and more heat.

Just had a look over with fresh eyes (was tired last night) and they seem to be 1156.

Not sure where you can still get them but they should overclock.

What's confusing is you are mentioning 1155 and 2011 boards which won't work.

well those are bloomberg cpus, first generation of i3s/i5s. they all use 1156 afaik.

Yup so should need a P55 1156 board.

lol i have no idea how bloomberg slipped to my mind, bloomfield maybe. but that was i7 and i5 only. but yea it could only be 1366 or 1156 for the i5 and deffo 1156 for the i3s, i was just confused because i didn't expect you to struggle with identifying that. i mean you have been around for a while :P
