I have a spare 120gb ssd and I was wondering would it be ok to use as storage?

set up
64gb ssd > sata 6 > Os/some apps
120gb ssd> sata 3 > install steam games or other apps

I know this might seem a tad strange instead of using a standard HDD but I'm trying to save money and use parts I already have

(all other media I have on external sources)

Yes it will work fine. Just make sure you connect it to a sata 3 port to maximize the transfer rate.

ssd's are just another form of storage to hdd. It is just that they are faster.

You will be fine. I'm using two SSD's and an external hard-drive atm (waiting for a caviar black RMA). One SSD for the boot drive and programs and another just for games.
