Something that irratates me...

Just thought I would post this to see if anyone else has the same problem.

Whenever I speak to anyone in any form of call centre they insist on using the A for Alpha language and expect me to know them all aswell.

So when they read something out like an e-mail address they say it all this A for Alpha language and when they dont hear what I say they say G for (dont know what it is) and I am like no I said P for Peter which I know is not the correct P for ...

Does anyone else have this problem and if anyone could give me a link to somewhere with a list of the whole alphabet I might not get so irratated.

Cheers, Hyper

same here but whenever that happens and they are like is that p for blah and d for whatever lol i just agree and say yes rofl!:rollingla

seems to work a charm as well:p

cheers.

Why does that irritate you so much? The only reason they have to do that is because people can easily confuse letters over the phone. F sound like S', M sounds like N etc...

If you speak to so many call centers, I thought you may pick it up! :rotfl:

I have problems understanding some people in call centres, full stop.

I got a cold call last night at 8:00pm.

The foriegn voice said "Hello I'm calling from Mumble, mumble, mumble Mobiles. I want to make you an offer yiu can't refuse"

Me: "Wanna bet? Bye bye" *Click*

As for the Alpha language I don't have any problems. After giving the old B-Bravo, A-Alpha, N-November etc etc to some guy, he said "Crikey!! That's a long e-mail address"

i can understand what your saying, i have the same sort of problem when they go hell for leather doing it. my brain cannot keep up with it. lets be fair though, they do it day in day out. most of us do it once in a blue moon.

Exactly !

I can understand if they do it slow but they really go for it and all the words are just merged together as one confuzing sentence:(

That's because the majority of employers in call centres are on a commision wage, (they get paid by the number of calls that they get through) rather than a fixed salary.

never had that problem as i know the phonetic alphabet, had to learn it when i was little for talking to the coastguards when we were on my boat

but half the time they dont use it, just think of random words that begin with whatever letter they are trying to say. completley random.

Just printed a copy of the phonetic alphabet off so next time I am on the phone I sound a little better

Do what I do sometimes:D Give it to 'em in the style of a squaddie calling in an airstrike or an arty barrage.

They start calling you "Sir" afterwards:p :D

Lol! Very true, if some guy sounds like he could turn on you at any point, you start calling him sir to keep him happy :D

The bad thing is when you say 'sir' and it's a lady that you're speaking to!!!
