Hi.I have decided to buy a 64gb ssd but can't decide which one to buy,the kingston v100 or the crucial m4.Help me decide which one and if you have some other suggestion let me know.

Also I want some store names that sell mushkins 'cause apparently aria is out of stock for the last couple of weeks.

Cheers.

I would personally go for the crucial drive, but Corsair are good as well....I would also maybe save a few extra pennys and get a 120gb.

I currently have a 60 gb OCZ vertex 2 drive and have no problems with it but it fills up fast....after a couple of months you find yourself uninstalling stuff as its filling up. My initial plan was to buy another and put them in RAID0, but you have no TRIM support in RAID.

In all fairness thou you could image your drive, format and reinstall the image onto the formatted drive in less than an hour, but would probably need to do this every 6 months or so.

Also if Aria are out of stock www.scan.co.uk are good with fast delivery

Good luck

Thanks for options mate.I don't need more than 64Gb so the size is pretty fixed, just need to decide on which company.

I had tried scan a month ago and it turns out they don't deal with mushkins only corsair and some other company that i don't remember.I have sent a mail to the sales department of the aria, now all I have to do is wait.

Well just too give you an overview of how much space a 64gb SSD will give you....when the drive is formatted u generally get around 55 gb of usuable space from a 60gb drive, which means you will have a bout 60gb to play with!

I rebuilt Windows 7 64bit onto my drive last weekend and with all updates, drivers and your normal kind or programs installed (Anti Virus, Winamp, VLC and a few ohers), I am left with about 18 gb. That is with no games, no microsoft office installed, if I install these and maybe one game, I am left with about 5gb or so.

Just something I would think about if I was you

Also are u after a sata 3 or a sata 2 ssd?

I put Win 7 64 Ultimate on my 64 gig SSD 8 months ago and still have 41.4 gig free out of 59.6 available.

Can't have much on their m8 apart from the o/s and updates....from a personal point of view i would go for a 120gb but you kinda have to rate your individual needs

AAhh you see my needs differ from yours.Only the os and few necessary softwares will be on the ssd.For the games I have a 1tb sata3 wd black,so that leaves me with a lot of space on the ssd without worrying too much.

I don't mind either of those, considering sata3 has better read speeds than sata2 I would go towards the sata3 but again it's at least 10 quid more expensive than a sata2(fighting for every penny that can be saved in my build).

i also have a OCZ Vertex 2 60gb, 55.7 empty, 33gb free with a full install with all updates and drivers.

system restore off and page file down to 1gb.

works fine for me but i'll go for a OCZ Vertex 3 120GB when the prices drop for the extra speed and space.

no advice on your decision as long as you DO get a SSD

might not have trim but you do have garbage collection which is basically trim for raid just works a lil differently but same end results. I have had my 2 64Gb Crucials in raid for about a month now and no issues at all. I just leave it on for about an hour to three every 4-5 days and gc does its thing.

Just out of curiousity what kinda read/write speeds do you get out them in RAID0?
