Solid State Help

monkey7 has a logical theory there I would agree that that would be the case but take a look at my quick benchie in HD Tach (32mb zones) with my raid 0 velociraptors....pics a little small so you need to click and zoom in and squint your eyes LOL....if I only there was a better free image hoster that allows bigger resolutions.

it seems that 300mbps even still would be fine, but it would appear that the limit is above 300mbps 9see burst speed) however this maybe due to me running x58 with the lack of FSB.

Nice bench :) I think I have a reason for the burst passing way over 300mbps:

- The limit is per cable. As you have two drives, each drive would be able to supply 300mbps = 600mbps total.

- The ICH10 (I believe 8 and 9 do it too) can give high burst speeds because of buffering. The intel matrix RAID setups could also deliver 0.5GB/s burst speeds because of that buffering.

If anyone thinks I'm not right, just shoot me :P I'm doing this completely on memory and reason, so I could make a misstep somewhere.

Edit: can't upload.overclock3d.net support 1024+ images?

not sure how to use oc3d upload, there should be an option for this when posting...infact I'll post that thought on the recommendations section...think that limited also to 1024 is it not.

My old Samsung Spinpoint 500gb in this machine got a burst speed of 500megs earlier when I ran HDTach, I assumed it was broken or something, it was only the quick test, but the average read was something like 70 :(

Thanks for the screenie, I can just make it out, some nice speeds there
