i am seriously thinking about the SR-2 successor and therefore two sandy bridge e E5 Xeons, probably the higher clocked quads or sixcores. the 8-cores are just too expensive and their clocks are too low.

but it does depend a little on how business will be going the next couple of months and what other expenses might get priority...such as taxes :-)

on the other hand the new rampage tom showed in one of the latest vids looks great, too. then I ask myself the question: why, why in god's name would I need any of this? :-)

I will be scoring the k spec one. But seein as im relaxed on my build schedule ill prob pick up the second wave with the different stepping i know they say the 3rd wave d step is gonna be the one to look for i can be bothered waiting that long. Kepler sli and a nice refined k mounted to a wc'd rampage 4 will suit me nicely

Im getting one. Just need my project to be finnished, so i might get second or third wave samples. Tbh the IB seems good also, with its low TDP

Im getting it soon but not when it releases, i want to plan my project out first, see what releases when SB-E is launched and also see if anything i may like is going to be launched a few months after (hint:sr-3)

Until then, im going to save as much as i can

I'm probably going to be one of the early adopters, as my current PC needs help desperately. Wait for what TTL says, then I'm getting one, hopefully a Rampage IV, with a 3930K.

I'm saving up for an sr-3, but will have to see what the prices are like when they come out. Would love to get 2x octacore!

On a side note I would also like to see the amount of people who actually buys an SR-3 as they say they will! Haha

if someone will buy my spare kidney i will be yes

Don't knock the thubans, I'm still rocking one

In all seriousness though I think intel may well have priced a lot of people out of this path, which is dissapointing considering the lack of 16x + 16x PCIe on most P67/Z68 boards. I doubt Ivt Bridge will change anything like that. Sandy Bridge at the moment is probably the most sensible buy.

Ivy Bridge is going to replace to old i7s? That would surely destroy an 1100T?

it will destroy the thubans, no doubt, but it is still a good chip. Not the best for gaming but great for well threaded programs and server duty. Besides the thubans are nearly 2 years old so it's not a like for like comparison.
