SMP Showing Unknown Amount of Points

I'm a complete noob at F@H, but i wanted to start folding seeing as it looks like an interesting thing to do. However, i ran a complete WU last night on my CPU and after it finished i ended up with 'Unknown' points and 0 PPD. When i run it on my GPU i can actually see the points. Is there an option that i missed or something?

Also, when i start folding on my GPU i hear a quiet but high pitched noise coming from my card, but as soon as i stop folding the noise stops completely. Is it something to worry about? I'm guessing no, but it's better to be safe than sorry. And yeah, i know AMD stuff is a bit poopy for folding, but eh well. I apologise for being a noob, but i hope to start doing a lot F@H, seems pretty cool.

What are you using to show the PPD? HFM.net or GPU Tracker? It could be that the client didn't have the WU information. Without that, it can't figure out the PPD. On HFM.net you can download new projects so it knows the point value of the WU.

As far as the high pitched noise goes, that's pretty common on GPUs when at full load. You would get the same thing running something else that stresses your card to the level that F@H does.

Welcome to F@H, are you folding for OC3D? If so, welcome to the team as well.

I'm currently running GPU Tracker. I'll try HFM.net and see if i get better luck out of that. As for the GPU noise, i guessed it was due to the stresses of folding but i wasn't sure, but now i know that i can just fold away.

Thanks for the help

So who are you Folding for ? not that it really matters you are Folding that is awesome !!!

BTW GPUtracker is IMO better then HFMnet............

can you post a SS ?

Ray..........

Folding for OC3D, although i am miles behind everyone, but eh well it's the taking part that matters. The screenshot is with both GPU and CPU folding, but only the GPU shows points. I heard last night that downloading projects list can fix it, but nothing happened.

That 7200WU is a beta WU most of the time it won't show its PPD yet..

http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummary.html Project list non beta....

BTW its better to only Fold on you're CPU that Ati GPU is crap for F@H.. NO cuda

Welcome to the Team and don't worry on where you are at we all started at 0

oo and best is to use SMP config no BIGadv as that is only for 6cores +......

I have been getting these as well, but points are still credited for them.

*checks GPU tracker*

Actually doing one now so I will be able to tell you the points once it has finished. For me with a stock 2500k, I think it's around 2,500 points but with yours at 4.3ghz it's probably around 4,500 that's what I was getting when I had my 2500k at 4.5 anyway.

Points are slow at first as well. You won't get any bonus points until you have completed 10 WU's. I know when I found that out I was a little gutted.

Thanks for the help everyone. What project out of that list would be best for a 2500K? And yeah, i think i'll rarely fold with my 6850 unless i'm out of the house and i want some extra points while i'm away, hopefully Kepler will be good and i can upgrade to that. Also, i may just up the OC on my 2500K a little more, currently set at 4.3 because i mainly game on it so large OC's wouldn't really benefit me much, but now i'm folding i may just have to raise the clock a little and get me some extra points.

Guys, just for reference, HMF.net will show ppd for all units, even units in beta. All you have to do is go to preferences > web settings and for the project download URL put the following: http://fah-web.stanford.edu/psummaryC.html

This will grab unit info from the project list of all projects including beta.

Oh and welcome to the team PetrolHead

Aaaa nice mate , i love to learn

BTW anyone knows how foodstamps is doing ?

just wondering as i miss the guy !

Greetings Ray.......

I can't seem to change the project, but seeing as it still counts to your overall points then i'll just stick with it, unless anyone knows how to change to a better, non-beta project. But if not then i'll just continue folding on project 7200.

You can delete the work folders files as those are the WU files...

then it will download a new WU

EDIT in the GPUtracker folder........

I deleted the work folder and started a new WU, but it started the same project again. I'm probably missing something being the newbie that i am

You might as well just do the WU, it's no different to the other WUs and you will still get points for it

Yeah that's what i'm thinking too. Not too bothered that i can't see my CPU points in GPU Tracker, just that i'd prefer if i could, but seeing as i still get the points nonetheless i'm not too fussed. If i can't solve it then i'll just keep on folding on this project.
