Small talk & Chit chat

Had a brain fart earlier for an idea that would make it the most expensive GPU waterblock in the world.

Imagine a vertically mounted GPU, with an acrylic/Nickel block attached. And then layered on top of the Acrylic, would be a full OLED display that extends over the whole block, and connected directly into the GPU, fed via some display port connection/bypass.

Imagine all the HWinfo data, Gif, animations, performance reading being visible there. Or apps allowing you to add a plethora of software/game assistance etc. If they can add small meaninful ones to CPU blocks, why not go to town and make a one off extreme version :D

Ooo I like that. Imagine it was like those cases with the see through screen. So you could see all of your data, but still see the block and stuffs underneath. That would be cool AF !
 
Saw an RX 6900XT for sale at £1200 today and nearly bought it. Came so close before I snapped back to reality and thought "why the hell am I paying more for a GPU than the rest of my PC put together?"

I know it's a pipe dream given Brexit and Covid but I still hope GPU prices will come down one day.

£1200 is about what you can expect. Irrelevant of Brexit or Covid.

For years Nvidia have made 60% on every GPU they sell. This hasn't changed since Fermi. So Kepler, Maxwell, Pascal etc etc.

This is the cost of large GPU dies and ray tracing and deep learning. Whether people want to accept that or not.

£1200 for an aftermarket card (if it is a good one) is about where you are going to be. For the top end card. That's about the same as the 2080Ti launched at, pre Covid or Brexit, and that is how it is. And will remain to be.

These cards are nothing like Pascal. At all. Remember, AMD launched at an SRP of £999.

I'm also seeing quite large numbers of AMD cards in stock too, so I guess the demand is finally falling.
 
Thought this was mildly interesting, Ran a bunch of game benchmarks and all see Windows 11 as Windows 10.

After moving across the country and now 37 days since doing so, I FINALLY got internet from my ISP. My lord what a PITA that whole scenario was.

On the other hand, not having any internet access besides my mobile phone, it was not nearly as bad as one would think. Spending time with the wife and we ended up rescuing 2 German Shepard puppies we actually quite enjoyed being away from all the distraction. We had plenty of it with the dogs LOL


Was going to post a speedtest for y'all but I have yet to get my rated 600mbps down... best I've gotten is 400mbps. Got to love the "pay for the speed listed but you aren't guaranteed to receive it" thing ISPs do because apparently "peak time throttling" lasts 24/7 :rolleyes:

So the last two weeks have been intresting to put it mildly O.o

First the normal scammer failed in 3 conversations, then someone else wasted my time.

Odd thing is I made a new friend she has been really good to me, while she didnt want anything serious herself, she knew I was open to it, so while in sheer shock she connected me with her niece and we started talking, spoken a lot and we get on really well.

So now I have a very good new friend and a new love intrest and amazingly to my surprise is actually intrested in me as i've been informed by the friend that i am able to stand a chance with the neice.

Thing is I said we'll take it slowly and evolve but atm even thou a long distance apart this will work so long as it keeps flowing as nicely as it is now.

So yea i haven't had much chance lately for tech talking or games, but feel really good atm and some of you i see as friendly peeps when we chat on all things so it's a tiny update on me :D

Lets just say in time that flight is getting booked :D

When you meet her remember to do the signature "Dice Dance of Love" to ensure she falls head over heels in love with you.... you start by wearing a neon green mankini, Make sure your twig and giggle berries are tucked away properly and then start the tribal dance !

It's like this only you'll be wearing the neon green mankini !

 
I've seen that video very talented, but she's not from africa :D

I'm just happy atm, while I could share more info and pictures etc i'll wait until something big happens, needless to say idk how I am even in with a chance she is very beautiful and far younger than me, but i have checked everything to make sure it all works :D

WOW, that is awesome!! Looking at a small version of that pic threw my brain HARD for a minute, I thought it was a room makeover of some kind.

EDIT: and now that I've seen the modders name, I am not surprised, that man is a creative genius.
 
Just watched the Decaprio and Lawrence movie "Don't Look Up"... holy crap I know parts of it are meant to be a sort of parody but it's frightening how close to real life a lot of the utter insanity in that movie is considering how rancid and low IQ most of humanity has become in the last few decades.
 
Freindly fiber guy is here to put in gigabit so i'm happy as he's early and it'll be switched on at 1pm fiber direct to the living room says it'll start off slowish but over a day or two we'll have 1000mbps down and 100+ upload :D

1pm it gets turned on, he says it's alligned really well just left took him about 1 1/2 hours to do, but all set up until he's allowed to turn it on and run more tests etc :)

Is that with one of City fibers partners, I looked into them but saw a few complaints of the buck getting passed when there's problems which put me off swapping out of virgin

I'm near clacton essex, this is just full fiber 900, but they all run off the same system here so customer service while an issue with any of them the service is the same with whoever you pick so i just went cheapest with shortest contract and with the highest amazon voucher £45 a month 18 months and £175 amazon.

The engineer was a nice person, got on well similar intrests and past jobs, was a surprise to normal with these things.

few mins or so and i'll be able to connect see what it's all about :)

wifi isnt great on the router PC gets 200mb other devices not so good will invest into some tp link deco m4's to have gigabit throughout will cost me like £80

cat8 40gb cable into the motherboard thou is slightly better you might say lmao :D
