When the spanish flu spread it came via the mail, it wouldn't be out of the norm for it to happen the same way, i've looked into this virus a lot the last few weeks we best hope it doesnt get worse we need spring and summer to kill it off at least until next winter when maybe they are more prepared for it.
Your research has failed you then. It doesn't survive on the surface for more than a few hours. Extremely unlikely for that to be it.
It would have to have shipped locally, passed through machines, dozens of humans, and all be within a small tight window of time and then be in contact with the end user. Not likely.
However with that said as of yesterday they announced that people are getting the virus with little or no clue as to how it happened. It originated from bats most likely and as it's spreading in random locations it technically is now considered a pandemic meeting 2 of the 3 criteria for such a classification. So it's clearly become more active. Other than what I said earlier it's unclear how it's spreading so quickly. But they have stated mail isn't really the issue. It's person to person.
