I strongly disagree with this... it's definitely not as "Simple as". Far from it.
This is an perfect example of it's easier said than done.
Your whole argument is based off an assumption I'm well off. Lol I'm not. I was making $17/hr. I wouldn't have lasted a week on my own in the West. I worked my a$$ off made enough money and moved everything I had(not much) which was barely enough to fill 2 small cars and bought a home. Driving 2000 miles from one coast to nearly the other. I slept on the floor and played on my computer on the floor too for months.
What I said is true. If you don't like it. Move. Simple as that. Just because it's hard does not make my statement less true. If you physically or legally cannot move, that's entirely different. If you are able, there's no reason to complain about it and do nothing about it.
This is a perfect example of assuming makes an a$$ out of you and me.
That is not what I said dude. Or rather, that was not what I meant. Your healthcare system is the best on the planet. If you have access to it.
And therein lies the problem with a capitalist for profit healthcare system. Because when I list off the following you will understand it perfectly.
1. Like you said, you need a good job to access good healthcare. Meaning that when you are 0 years old you better pray that you either have parents with the money to get you into college OR be one in a thousand and have a very high IQ or be very good at sports to get you into that job. Because without it? your whole life out there will suck balls.
2. Pray that you never become unwell to the point that the insurance company, as they do, will just refuse to insure you and or keep paying. Like I said, I have seen SO MANY people lose every penny they have, run out of money and then start a gofundme just to access that healthcare. And they usually die dirt poor because they can not afford to cure themselves.
3. Without a college education and diploma? it doesn't matter how good you are at something in the USA as I found out. I ended up working at fukkin Burger King. Even though I had 25 years experience in IT and at the time, servers and networking. Skills I totally let slip.
4. A good job (see all of the above). Not one where they screw you on a zero hour contract and hire you for 39 hours so they don't have to offer you anything.
I am not aware of Dice having the above. Not rich parents, or diplomas, or much else. Sure, he has a lot of experience doing what he does but they will laugh at him when he arrives in the USA. As such, I think he is better off where he is. Because as much as people moan and complain about the UK saying it is broken and etc etc? it is still by far the best place I have ever lived (and I have been about a bit to know.).
f you don't have a good job anywhere you aren't really in a good position. I'm not sure how that's an argument.
1) see this is how I know you are misinformed. If you don't have parents who can pay for medical care, the government will pay for kids. 100%. No deductible no 300 pound anything. Just free. You have access to any place. Each state is different and different requirements. That's the confusing part. However even in the most "right wing idiot" states as many people call them, they have these programs.
2) if you haven't broken any law or done anything wrong the insurance won't drop you. If they don't cover something specific then no they won't cover it. The only way you get screwed over is if you have no insurance and are ill and then trying to get coverage will be hard. That's one major flaw. This is where the GoFundMe comes up.
3) No idea how you didn't get a job. If you were on a Visa I could see them not wanting to. You do NOT need any degree to make a living in this country. This is what angers me more than anything. The school system pushes for college and makes every non "white collar" job seem stupid and paints those blue collars as a failure. Despite the fact blue collar workers are make the country run. Most people aren't white collar. Anyway to avoid more ranting... I'm not sure why you didn't get a job. But that seems like an extreme outlier imo.
4) Full time is considered 30 hours. Yes some employers do only offer up to 29. These jobs are generally not high skill jobs, ie, grocery store worker, trash pickup, etc. jobs that are actual contract based cannot drop you. It's all dependent on the contract but I haven't heard of one dropping for less than full time. People can take vacations/holiday after all.
For me I was in IT. So that was white collar I suppose you can classify it as. They couldn't drop you for less than 30 since you were salary based and generally worked 40+ usually 50 hours.
I don't know Dices situation. He briefly explained above. Full stop can't leave. Perfectly fine. Do whatever he needs to. Then after do whatever is best for him. If that's USA then more power to him. If it's Norway like Warchild, then hell yeah brother. Doesn't matter where. Whatever makes him happy.
