hey guys when i boot XP i see that loading bar for like 23 times is this normal it wasnt this slow before i ussualy see it for 3/4 times and then it goes to my welcome screen any 1 know why this happens is some part dieing or ??

that's normal (to some extent) as you install more programs and use your computer...but your case does seem to take too long

it might help to defragment your hd

might help to uninstall any unneeded programs

something that will help is to go start, run, msconfig and go to the startup tab and disable nearly everything

do a scan for viruses and other malware

I have personally seen a computer boot go from 5+ minutes to ~30 seconds by removing norton products, so if you have any norton products...cut your losses, uninstall and search for better (and free-er) replacements

you could try bootvis (though I haven't had much luck with it as it hates my raid 0 array which has my xp)

It's most likely all the start up programs, as Allargoando said, start > run > msconfig then the startup tab, get rid of almost everything (like MSN etc.. things you can open manually)

Download Ccleaner and install it. Go to the section with the start up programs and delete the actual registry key. Won't see them again in a hurry. ;)

Yeah, Like others have said I'd reccomend you;

- Defragment your HDD, all partitions (weekly)

- Delete any programs which aren't used

- Run a virus/spyware scan (weekly)

- Remove startup programs using msconfig

Defragment your hard drives weekly? LOL Mate, with 100+GB installed (when I got all my current games on here) it tends to take a bit long for a weekly operation, maybe a monthly one but surely not weekly!

The more often you defrag, the fast it will be each time.

i used to do it daily took like 5 mins max

but it was pointless...and a bit too anal

weekly is enough

where can i find it how to defragment HDD :P i forgot ;p i got some kind of virus which is

control panel, administrative tools, computer management

in there is a tab for defragmenting.

or, you could use a third-party defrag program (I use jkdefrag)

if you can't get to control panel, try restarting explorer.exe (end the process using task manager and then file, new task, explorer.exe)

you should get rid of the virus first though (if it's not just system instability)
