Slight problem with new build

Hello everyone I'm new to the forum
But not new to building computers. I've been putting together a new computer with budget in mind and after receiving all the parts, putting them together when the computer boots up there is no signal sent out from the video card. I spent all night working on it with no solution, I've tried outputting to a TV and monitor through HDMI, dvi to HDMI with an adaptor and nothing. Everything gets power, fans spin, pump on cooler runs, lights come on, no red lights on motherboard, everything seems like it's working. I haven't installed an OS yet cause I can't see what's going on. I know I took a chance on an engineering sample Xeon from eBay, they stated it worked and I can return it, it is listed as working with the board on the MSI site. All parts were wituer used or refirbushed to help cut cost.
Please help and thanks you all.
I'll leave the list below of components.
MSI X99 kraitA motherboard
Nvidia 980ti
Corsair vengeance Ddr4 RAM 2600 8x2 gig kit
Corsair H100 i gtx
Ocz ssd
WD blue caviar 2 terabyte
Corsair CX 750M PSU
Intel Xeon E5-2630 V4 ES
Nzxt h440 case

Updates, returned the board and exchanged it for the MSI X99 raider and still no output from the video card and no beep from the little speaker I plugged into the motherboard. Any advice cause I'm lost at this point.

G'day Welcome to the forums it sounds like a video card issue what I'd try first is make sure the card isn't running on a daisy chain cable so run it on an individual 6 and 8 pin cable see if that's the problem as some cards don't like to be daisy chained also try the card in a different rig if possible if you still have issues then rma the card another thing to try is see if you can borrow a different card from someone and try it

Personally Id be more inclined to say that its the CPU. The description from the OP fits a dead/malfunctioning CPU.

I have an old rig I plan on trying the card in. I feel like it works, the fan spins up and the lights come on, I'm using a semi modular PSU so there's a designated cable just for that video card.

So after trying a different motherboard, 2 GPUs, 3 monitors, 2 power supply's I still can't get the rig to post with the CPU in it. I also bought one of the speakers that plugs into a header on the motherboard and it won't beep with or without the CPU. Am I looking at another bogus motherboard or maybe a bad CPU?

Bad CPU is my guess. Have you tried the GOU in another system to see if it outputs a signal? Have you set the BIOS to use PCIE graphics if there is an option for that?

I wouldn't say bad CPU. I would say bios that does not support 10 core CPU.

If you want to use ES and specifically Xeons then use Asrock, they are the only "gaming" motherboard company that bother with Xeons really. Gigabyte and Asus are usually pretty good with it too.

Hmm just saw that you said MSI say it's supported. With what bios? has the bios been updated to work with Haswell E? Or Broadwell E?

Edit again. As for Ebay? lmao, you're not even allowed to sell ES. So they'd be pretty screwed if you started a dispute. I would threaten to grass them up to Intel.

The first board I used was a krait A and nothing worked. The guo works in my old rig, I tired my old 680 in the new one and nothing will work. It sounds like your all saying what I'm thinking and the CPU is shot. If there was at least something that showed when it booted I would have hope.

Dude this can and will happen if you use ES. I bought a six core 1366 ES once (long before the 5650s were doing the rounds) and it refused to work in two boards (one an Alienware MSI and the other a MSI). I bought a Dell and it fired first time.

I still use an 8 core ES now in a Gigabyte board but from time to time it acts funny, especially if you change the ram.

All I can suggest before you start an Ebay fight is returning the motherboard (where do you live? it can depend on how much luck you will have..) and getting an Asrock board. They would support a potato, if it were made of silicon.

Will im in CA so I'm not sure what that means. I didn't think ASrock boards were all that great. I got the ES cause it was cheap, like 150 and so if it was I wasn't out much. I can easily exchange the MSI board I have at the store, I think k they have ASrock stuff there too. The seller is being really cool about it and saying they will take it back but just want to make sure I don't have to send it back if I can make it work. They said they tested it on an Asus X99 rog extreme and an ASrock board so there's a damn good change your on to something. Thank you all so much and please if anyone else has advice I would love to hear it.

I'd rather fill my arse with wasps than use an ASRock board, having had two fail on me in short order, but each to their own!

Good luck getting this sorted, I think you're definitely looking at a new CPU.

Picked up a 6800k swapped CPU and nothing still. Took out the RAM and I got post code beeps once! Didn't keep track cause I was in shock cause it was doing more than it had ever done. I still can't get into the BIOS and no display out. Could it be the board it was second hand, the CPU works. Maybe the RAM?

Food for thought you may have what my board had a dodgy PCIE lane my system looked like it was on but wouldn't throw a picture with either the onboard or GPU also check your ram by only putting in one stick at a time

Can I try the gpu in a different PCI slot? I know it has less lanes but is that something to try that won't mess anything up

Update, got a different board. Asus x99 a-ii updated BIOS and all works well even with the ES Xeon! I want to thank everyone for all the help!
