Hey guys, should be (praying) upgrading to sli on the 8800gtx cards in my rig soon, (selling some stuff to pay for it) soooooo....

Iv got some gay Jeantech Storm 700watt psu thing. (pc world, dont knock it, it was FREE!)

Thats the one,

http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/pr...TECH/JNP-700/734717#productInformationSection

Anyways, I dont think it will do sli like some places say as IT DOESNT HAVE THE LEADS!!!! DDDUUUUHH!!!

So, what can i do...Iv seen something like this:

http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,1558,2142137,00.asp?kc=ETRSS02129TX1K0000532

And i know thermaltake (the sinners of all sinners) make one thats only £30, personally, i dont want to have to mess about with the psu as i dont have the money, (getting a new mobo and cpu too you see XD)

So you guys got any suggestions?!?!

I will have the Hiper 580 watt psu too when i can be bothered to RMA it.

Oh, on the side, recommend a mobo to run a Q9450 and my ReaperX ram and SLI?!? please dont say Abit IP35 pro either. :p

Cheers guys!!!!

friends don't let friends buy thermaltake

so get some ponce to buy it for you, rip it open, change the name to thermalright and then u can get the 5'25 psu

Sell it and either get a PCP&C 750W Silencer, or a 1,000W Corsiar HX.

Don't skimp on the PSU, those thermaltakes are known for shorting out badly.

HAHAHAHAHA!!!! Think i may, BUT, as barry is saying, i probably should consider selling both of the psu's i have and getting something decent.

errrrrr SLI and IP35 in same sentance?do you know something we dont??lol

Not fully up with the SLI department myself, but I`m imagining the best on the market would be the ASUS Striker II extreme 790i (probably followed by the XFX then evga models). Maybe there`s a 780i, I dunno.

Think about what ur going to do for sound also, if u need a pci slot or 2 to be free after sli`ing.

Ur gonna be looking for a 800-850+ QUALITY psu. What u save in watts with the cpu ur going to blow away with the extra gfx card. (and the oc`ing of course :p)

If ur adding loads of harddrives, wc`ing add another 100w maybe.

:ban:

For sound im hoping to just be able to run it off of the mobo directly, Never was one for buying a sound card, even though i have heard the great increase in sound quality from my brother computer and that was with some cheap thing we bought him for about £20.

What about this for a psu?

^^ That one is highly recommended.

I think i know the bad boy im going to use now then. Cheers bud.

Right....need to find money, you will find me on the corner of castle st, cardiff, southern end, tomorrow from 6pm, ill be the one holding out the starbucks cup, sat on the floor, chequered pattern blanket and my little stray dog dave

as long as you have enough power to run the mobo, cpu, and gpus you'll be fine as you get a molex to 6 pin pci adapter with the 88gtx, and if you dont just buy one they cant cost much

Don't cheap out on the most important component in your PC.

I recommend Silverstone Zeus, olympia and strider series (I have a 1kw strider).

PCP&C as recommended are also great PSU's.

Through personal experience I would stay clear of thermtack and Enermax - had some bad experiences with them taking out my rigs in the past.

Cheers webbo. Thanks for the up. Im debating on SLI after a little convo with llwyd so we shall see. might spend the extra money on different mobo and RAM. may go DDR and a new HDD. God knows.

but why would he spend more money than he has to if the psu he has now will work just as good. its in effect just throughing money away buying something he already has.
