SLI GPU location and bridge

I am installing 2 780s on a Asus Formula board. Asus say use the two top PCIe slots, EVGA say use top and bottom slots.

Does anybody out there know which works best and, if it is EVGA, where can I get an SLI bridge of the right length?

tbh i'd run them in the first and last to allow the top gpu to breath, I found it to be much more worth it. I only lost a couple of frames going from a 16x slot to a 4x slot, and the top gpu dropped by about 15C.

What board socket do we talk on ?
- That will help a out, my Asus Rog Formula 2011 socket have 1 and 3 to 16 all the time, but i know it does not work like that on 1155 or 1150 boards.
