Skyrim Creation Kit Help

I have just begun my long journey into modding Skyrim with the Creation Kit. However, being new to the modding scene, I am having trouble figuring some things out.

If there is anyone out there who knows the Creation Kit and could help me, I would be very thankful.

I'm trying to create a new location, outdoors, to which I can link to from within Skyrim and would also like to implement my own music. Where do I find pieces for that and how could I go about starting such a location?

Alrite mate I havnt delved into the Creation Kit yet but its so similar to previous SDK's (the reason why I am not arsed TBH) that I can help you with this...

But first when you say outdoors do you mean brand new landmass i.e. you walk down the road and come to a brand new are or do you mean you go through a loading screen? ( a door for example)

A little more information on what you are trying to achieve would be great would allow me to help you out allot more!

I wanted to create a dense forest area in Tamriel where you would walk into the trees and it would load like a door into a forest (which I would design myself). So there would be land masses and trees as there are in the would space.

Ok if you open up the creation kit hit file->data then check skyrim.esm only hit ok

Once its done loading you will see 4 windows The main window with File,Edit,View etc the object window, the cell window and the render window

Now the best advice I can give you is to check out these videos if you have any specific questions feel free to ask

I've seen all those videos and I know how to open up and navigate the Creation Kit, I just don't know how to begin an outdoor environment.

In the cell view hit the drop down menu and you will see things like riftenworld and markarthworld these are worldspaces open up a cell and where you would like to edit lets say you want to add a bigger forest near Riften you would got to riftenworld and select one of the wilderness cells when it loads you just have to find the relevant trees you want to add in the object window you can naviagate between cells in the render window so have a scout around for the place you want to edit

Oooh!! Thank you so much! I was wondering what wilderness was for. You're awesome!

How are ya getting on with this Cyanide?

It works, but I haven't had the time lately to fully finish the location. I'll get back to you in a bit.

Hey this is mildly on topic but google doesnt seem to be capable of providing a good answer, i am trying to make an outside floating island/garden type thing somewhat similar to mankar camerons paradise from oblivion however i have so much stuff packed into it, the cost is too high and it wont render properly and it gets all glitchy, my level is broken up into three main areas and i figured if i could use bounding boxes and portals to keep the cost down it might work but because everything is visible for the most part it doesnt and looks like crap from certain angles anyway,

i was wondering if there is some sort of way to limit the rending or perhaps bring in fog to fade out the other islands until you get close, this is my first mod and i have worked very hard on it so i would really appreciate any help

There's a mod on SkyrimNexus to limit fog.
