Should I wait for 4K monitor

I have a 27" 1080p Samsung monitor and I'm thinking about replacing it with ASUS PB278Q - a 27" PLS 2560x1440. But on the other hand there might be 4K monitors in the near future.
So, should I wait for 4k till it comes out? Or just buying a 2.5K monitor now?

Yeah, you are right. Probably going to coast over $9000... How long do you think we'll have to wait until they become affordable? If it more than 2 years I'll just buy the ASUS one... Which is expensive anyway...
 
I've no idea mate. I'd definitely say long enough to warrant you getting the asus monitor now and waiting. Plus you'd need some pretty beast gpu's to crank up the settings on 4k i would think
 
i don't think 4k will get popular this year, probably not even next year. i won't be using a resolution that high and therefor drop 3/4 of my framerate.
 
Yeah. Unless its crazy expensive, I'll just have to work overtime... And in my job it's fine. Because I build PCs for people, so I enjoy it...
 
I have been thinking of the same thing, and I decided today whilst I was near a shop that I would ask when they think that the 4K TV's, will become mainstream and they reckon it will be around 18 months.

I will now be getting a new monitor at some point this year, but it won't be a 1080p it will probably be a Dell 30" or Dell 27" but not sure which just yet.

I don't watch TV at all. But I was at CES and I saw tons of 4K and a few 8K TVs. That was so outstanding. I was staring at a Samsung one for over 20 minutes. That was so awesome! And if you want to know if it looks better on a smaller size, the answer is yes! One of the 8K TVs was 55" and it means that it has the same PPI as 4K on 27" so yeah. I believe that it would.

And @SavageCupcake I was at CES, it's a shame I missed this tablet!
 
you'd prob need SLI titans to run smoothly on 4k . Plus the fact that a 4k monitor will cost you thousands too
 
4k monitors are wahey to expensive at the moment the asus monitor is so good with the PLS panel I would just wait until they actually are affordable but I am begging for the that day to come soon and hopefully it will with the PS4 pretty much defo supporting 4k
